Solid 925 silver is COP 250,000 (≈ US$65), chrome/dental gold COP 320,000 (≈ US$80), 9K gold COP 900,000 (≈ US$225), 14K gold COP 1,250,000 (≈ US$315) and 18K gold COP 1,500,000 (≈ US$375). Iced silver with moissanite starts at COP 500,000 (≈ US$125) and iced gold from COP 1,250,000 per tooth. ### Do grillz damage your teeth? No, not when they are custom-fitted and kept clean. Our grillz are removable, built on a mould of your teeth and need no filing or drilling. Problems come from ill-fitting generic pieces or from eating and sleeping in them without cleaning. ### Do you file my teeth? No, we never file teeth. We make removable, no-filing grillz — the fit comes from the natural shape of your teeth captured in the mould or scan. ### Can I eat or drink with grillz in? It's best to take them out to eat. Water is fine with them in, but sugary drinks, coffee or alcohol collect between the piece and the tooth — rinse and clean them afterwards. ### How long do they take? Between 5 and 15 days depending on the material. Plain silver or chrome pieces take 5–10 days from the mould. Gold and iced pieces take 10–15 days because of karat casting and stone setting. ### I'm visiting — will they be ready before my flight? Almost always, if you book your mould in your first days in Medellín. For gold or iced, aim for at least two weeks left in your trip. If you leave first, we ship them to your country. ### Do you ship internationally and across Colombia? Yes, we ship nationwide and internationally. We cover any city in Colombia and abroad with insured, tracked courier. Shipping is quoted by destination. ### Are they removable? Yes, every set we make is removable. They press-fit over your teeth and we show you at the fitting how to put them in and take them out safely. ### How do I clean my grillz? With warm water, a soft brush and mild soap after each use. Dry fully and store in the case. Once a week, use a jewellery cleaner suited to the metal. ### Gold or silver — which should I choose? It depends on your budget and how often you'll wear them. Silver is the most affordable way in and looks great polished, but it tarnishes and needs more cleaning. Gold (9K, 14K or 18K) does not oxidise, keeps its shine and is the better long-term choice. ### Do white, yellow and rose gold cost the same? Yes, price depends only on karat. At the same karat, white, yellow and rose gold are the same price per tooth. ### How is the mould taken? With a dental impression kit of silicone or alginate. You bite a tray for a couple of minutes per arch, and the whole process takes about 20 minutes, at our studio or where you are staying. ### Do I pay everything upfront? No, only a deposit before casting. That deposit covers the metal; the balance is due on delivery. The online configurator takes no payment — it only sends your request. ### Do you come to my hotel or Airbnb? Yes, we do home visits. We take the mould and do the final fitting at hotels and apartments across Medellín and the Aburrá Valley, arranged by email. ### Which stones do you use for iced grillz? Moissanite as standard, with diamonds on custom quote. Moissanite is used for its fire and hardness, while lab-grown or natural diamond is priced individually. ### Can I talk or go out with them? Yes, no problem. You may notice a slight change in speech for the first day or two, which fades quickly. After a night out, just rinse them. ### Can I sleep with my grillz on? We don't recommend it. Sleeping in them speeds up wear and traps moisture and residue between the piece and the tooth. Take them off, clean them and store them in the case before bed. ### What if they don't fit well? We adjust them at the fitting appointment. The process includes a fitting visit before final delivery where we check the fit on your teeth. If anything feels off, we fix it on the spot at no extra cost. ### Can I pay in US dollars? Payment is made in Colombian pesos (COP). The USD prices you see are only an approximate reference. Exact payment methods are confirmed when you book your appointment. ### Do you do engravings, names or custom designs? Yes, custom work is available on quote. We can add engravings, initials or special designs to a piece. Tell us your idea when booking and we'll confirm price and lead time. ### How do I book an appointment? Via WhatsApp, email or the online configurator. Message us at contact@grillzmedellin.com or use the [configurator](/personaliza) to build your piece and schedule the mould. We coordinate location and date around your availability. ### Do I need to see a dentist first? Not for most people. Our grillz are removable and don't alter the tooth, so no dental prep is required beforehand. If you have a specific dental condition, let us know before the mould. ### Can I change the design after approving it? Yes, as long as it hasn't gone to casting. While the piece hasn't been cast you can still adjust design details. Once it's cast, major changes mean fabricating a new piece. ### Does silver turn black? Yes, silver tarnishes over time and with wear. It's a normal reaction of the metal that's kept in check with regular cleaning and storing it in the case. If you'd rather avoid it entirely, gold is the better option. ### Do you offer digital scanning as well as a physical mould? Yes, we offer either a physical mould or a digital scan of your teeth. Both methods capture the exact shape of your mouth for fabrication. We'll recommend one based on your city and availability. ### Do you speak English? Yes, we work in both Spanish and English. The whole process, from quote to delivery, can be done in either language. Just write to us in whichever you prefer. ### Do you serve Rionegro and near the airport? Yes, we cover Rionegro and Llanogrande. We do home visits in that area in addition to Medellín and the Aburrá Valley. Book your appointment around your airport arrival or departure. ### Do you make grillz for minors? Yes, but only with consent from a responsible adult. A parent or guardian must authorise and accompany the process from start to finish. Without that authorisation we won't take the mould or deliver the piece. ## Preguntas frecuentes (español) ### ¿Cuánto cuestan unos grillz en Medellín? El precio se cobra por diente. Plata sólida 925 cuesta $250.000, cromo/oro dental $320.000, oro 9K $900.000, oro 14K $1.250.000 y oro 18K $1.500.000 COP. No, nunca limamos dientes. ### ¿Hacen envíos internacionales y a toda Colombia? ### ¿Van a mi hotel o Airbnb? ### ¿Qué pasa si no me quedan bien? ## Areas served ### El Poblado — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/el-poblado El Poblado is where we take the most moulds: it is where most visitors stay and where many locals work. Whether you are in a hotel on the Milla de Oro or an apartment up Loma de Los Balsos, impressions take about 20 minutes and you never have to cross the city. El Poblado brings together two very different kinds of client: the local professional working near the Milla de Oro who wants a subtle silver piece for the office, and the traveller passing through for a few days who wants to debut gold or iced before flying home. That mix makes comuna 14 by far our busiest area for moulds each month, so we keep the process tight — confirm on WhatsApp, bring the kit to your hotel or apartment, and take upper and lower impressions in about 20 minutes. Guests staying along Avenida El Poblado or near Parque Comercial El Tesoro tend to prefer mid-morning slots, once housekeeping has finished and the street traffic has eased. Residents up a loma — Los Balsos, Los Parra — almost always book for after 6 p.m., once they are home from work. If you want gold or iced before a flight, message us the day you land: with 10 to 15 days of lead time we can usually finish before you pack. On long weekends, when tourists and locals both flood the bars, it is worth building in an extra day or two of buffer. Check our [grillz styles](/estilos) before choosing a material, or compare with [the Provenza area](/zonas/provenza) if you are staying nearer Parque Lleras than El Poblado's main square. Landmarks: Parque El Poblado, the Milla de Oro along Avenida El Poblado, Santafé, El Tesoro and Oviedo malls, and the hillside lomas of Los Parra, El Tesoro and Los Balsos. Getting there: Poblado station on Metro Line A is a few blocks from the park. If you are up one of the lomas, a taxi or ride-hailing app along Avenida El Poblado beats walking the hills. Visits: We visit hotels and Airbnbs anywhere in El Poblado. We agree a time by email, bring the impression kit and take upper and lower moulds in your room or lobby. Just let reception know you have a visitor. Timing: El Poblado visits can usually be booked same day or next day; driving within the area is typically 15–25 minutes outside rush hour. **Do you do home visits to El Poblado hotels?** Yes, we visit any hotel or Airbnb across comuna 14 at no extra charge. Just let the front desk know a short visitor is expected, and we will agree a time over WhatsApp or email. **How fast is the mould if I am only passing through?** Taking the mould itself only takes about 20 minutes, no matter how long your trip is. Build time is what varies — plain silver 5 to 10 days, gold or iced 10 to 15 — so it pays to book as soon as you arrive. **How quickly can a visit be arranged in El Poblado?** We usually book same day or next day. Since this is our busiest area, we run set routes through the Milla de Oro and the lomas, which keeps waiting times short. ### Provenza — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/provenza Provenza is the boutique-and-specialty-coffee block beside Parque Lleras, and the centre of Poblado nightlife. Plenty of people here see grillz as the piece that finishes the look, so they book the mould early to have the set back before the next weekend. Provenza runs on design shops, specialty coffee and, once the sun sets, the Parque Lleras nightlife. Clients here typically want a piece to match a night-out look: an iced set that pops in photos, or a gold open face that catches the light at a bar. Because the streets around Calle 9 and Parque Lleras close to traffic on weekends, any visit planned for a Friday or Saturday night is nearly impossible to pull off on time, so we simply do not book them. That is why we work mornings in Provenza almost exclusively, while the hostels and boutique hotels along Calle 10 and Vía Primavera still have quiet common areas and front-desk staff who are not rushed. If you are only in town for a few days and want to wear your set that same weekend, book the mould the Monday or Tuesday before, leaving room for plain silver (5 to 10 days) or gold (10 to 15 days). It is also common for groups of friends travelling together to book a joint appointment so everyone's pieces arrive the same day for a group debut that night. Read [how the whole process works](/como-funciona) before writing to us, or check [El Poblado](/zonas/el-poblado) if your stay is closer to the main square than to Parque Lleras. Landmarks: Vía Primavera, Calle 10, Parque Lleras and Calle 8 with its local design shops. Getting there: From Poblado Metro station it is about a 15-minute uphill walk along Calle 10, or a short taxi ride. Central Provenza is flat and walkable, so meeting at your hostel or boutique hotel is easy. Visits: Many Provenza hostels and boutique hotels have quiet common areas in the morning — the best time for impressions. We avoid Friday and Saturday nights when streets close to traffic. Timing: Provenza slots are mornings and early afternoons; 10–20 minutes from anywhere in El Poblado. **Can you take the mould at a Provenza hostel?** Yes, we visit hostels and boutique hotels throughout the area, usually in the morning common areas. We just need about 20 minutes and a space where the visit will not disturb other guests. **Why do you avoid Friday and Saturday nights in Provenza?** Because several streets around Parque Lleras close to both foot and vehicle traffic those nights. We prefer morning or early-afternoon slots so we can reliably reach you on time. **Can I get my grillz before the weekend?** If you book the mould early in the week it is possible, especially for plain silver which takes 5 to 10 days. For gold or iced pieces, write to us at least 10 days ahead. ### Manila — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/manila Manila is the flat, walkable pocket between Calle 10 and Avenida Las Vegas, packed with mid-stay apartments where digital nomads spend one to three months. With that much time, it is the ideal base for ordering gold or iced pieces, which take a little longer. Manila is mid-stay territory: furnished apartments rented for one to three months, many by people working remotely from the cafés along Calle 11A while a visa or contract runs its course. That longer timeline changes what people order — instead of a quick piece for a short trip, Manila sees more requests for 14K or 18K gold and moissanite iced sets, because clients know they will be around long enough to wait out the 10 to 15 days those take to build. The neighbourhood is flat from end to end, between Parque El Poblado and Avenida Las Vegas, so getting around by bike or EnCicla is as quick as calling a taxi. That lets us offer the mould during a lunch break, with no one closing their laptop for more than 20 minutes. If you are here on a fixed-term contract, book as soon as you sign the lease — that leaves plenty of room even for gold pieces, and if you move apartments partway through the process we only need your new address for delivery. Check [prices by material](/precios) or compare with [Laureles](/zonas/laureles) if you prefer a neighbourhood with more street life and fewer work cafés. Landmarks: The blocks between Parque El Poblado and Avenida Las Vegas, the La Presidenta creek, and the remote-work cafés on Calle 11A. Getting there: Poblado Metro station is about a 10-minute walk. The neighbourhood is flat, so cycling or the EnCicla public bikes also work well. Visits: If you work from your apartment, we can take the mould during your lunch break — impressions take around 20 minutes and you never leave the building. Timing: Manila visits are available most days; usually under 15 minutes' drive within El Poblado. **Can I get the mould taken during my lunch break in Manila?** Yes, that is our most common booking here. We come to your apartment, take the mould in about 20 minutes, and you are back to work the same afternoon. **Why do so many Manila clients order gold or iced?** Because most residents here are staying one to three months, long enough to wait the 10 to 15 days those pieces take to build. Shorter-stay visitors usually choose plain silver instead. **How easy is it to reach Manila for a visit?** Very easy — the neighbourhood is completely flat and about a 10-minute walk from Poblado Metro station. We also get there comfortably by bike or EnCicla. ### Laureles — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/laureles Laureles is the neighbourhood of tree-lined circular streets and genuine paisa neighbourhood life. Visitors who want less noise than El Poblado stay here, and plenty of young locals around UPB and La 70 live here. It is our second-busiest area. Laureles has its own rhythm compared with El Poblado: less hotel nightlife, more genuine neighbourhood life around the Primer Parque and Carrera 70. Many of our clients here are UPB students or young locals living on their own for the first time near Circular Tercera, and they tend to start with entry pieces — solid silver or a single cap — before coming back for gold later. It is also a neighbourhood where fang orders repeat often, tied to the street style that moves between La 70 and the bars along the Nutibara. Since the circular streets confuse even longtime residents, visits go smoother with a clear landmark — the Primer Parque, a known corner on Circular Primera — rather than just an address. The best slot is usually a weekday afternoon, after university classes end but before the weekend crowds hit La 70. Coming from downtown or Robledo, switching between Metro Lines A and B to Estadio or Floresta beats driving, especially during the afternoon rush hour. See our [styles guide](/estilos) or compare with [Estadio](/zonas/estadio) if your visit depends on a match at the Atanasio and you live closer to the sports complex. Landmarks: Avenida Nutibara, Circular Primera, Primer Parque de Laureles, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and Calle 33. Getting there: Estadio and Floresta stations on Metro Line B are right there. From San Antonio you change from Line A to Line B in a few minutes. Visits: We visit apartments and hotels all over Laureles. The circular streets confuse drivers, so we ask for a landmark — a park or a well-known corner — when you confirm. Timing: Reference travel time between El Poblado and Laureles: 20–35 minutes depending on traffic on Avenida 80 or Calle 33. **Do you serve UPB students in Laureles?** Yes, they are one of our most frequent groups in the area. Many start with a simple silver piece and come back later for gold or fangs. **How do you find addresses on Laureles' circular streets?** We ask for a clear landmark, like the Primer Parque or a known corner, alongside the exact address. The circular streets do not follow simple numeric order, so this avoids confusion. **What is the best time for a Laureles visit?** Weekday afternoons work best, after classes end and before the weekend crowds arrive on La 70. That avoids the neighbourhood's traffic and noise peaks. ### Estadio — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/estadio Estadio runs on the schedule of the Atanasio Girardot: Nacional or Medellín match days, big concerts and the bars on La 70. If you want to debut your grillz at a derby or a stadium show, this is the neighbourhood to plan from. Everything in Estadio revolves around the Atanasio Girardot: a Nacional or Medellín derby, a big concert at the Unidad Deportiva, or a tournament final completely changes the neighbourhood's traffic and mood for a day or two. It is, in fact, the area where we get the most requests tied to a specific event — someone wanting to debut a gold open face at a match, or a group of friends coordinating matching fangs before a big concert. That is why we plan differently here: if we know there is a match or show, we move the mould to an afternoon a few days earlier, because the streets around the stadium and Carlos E. Restrepo gridlock hours before any event. To have the piece ready in time, write to us as soon as you know the event date, allowing 5 to 10 days for silver and 10 to 15 for gold or iced. Midweek, outside of event dates, the neighbourhood is quiet and almost any time of day works for a visit. If you live closer to La 70 than to the stadium itself, you may find [Laureles](/zonas/laureles) more useful — it shares a Metro line and much of its route with Estadio. Landmarks: Estadio Atanasio Girardot, the Unidad Deportiva sports complex, Carrera 70 and the Carlos E. Restrepo area. Getting there: Estadio station on Metro Line B drops you at the sports complex, two or three stops from downtown. Visits: On match or concert days the area gridlocks, so we book impressions a few days ahead and skip those afternoons. That way a plain piece can be ready for the next big event. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 25–35 minutes; far longer on event days. **Can you deliver grillz before a specific match?** Yes, if you write to us with enough lead time before the event date. We recommend 10 to 15 days' notice for a gold or iced piece to be ready that day. **Why do you avoid booking on match or concert days?** Because vehicle and foot access around the Atanasio gets complicated hours before any event. We prefer to visit a few days earlier to avoid risking a delay. **How far is Estadio from El Poblado for a visit?** Reference travel time is 25 to 35 minutes on a normal day, much longer on event days. Estadio station on Line B makes the connection much easier by Metro. ### Envigado — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/envigado Envigado feels like a small town inside the metro area: a lively main square, traditional restaurants and a growing tattoo and streetwear scene. Many clients here pair a first set with a pair of fangs for everyday wear. Envigado keeps a small-town feel that is hard to find elsewhere in the valley: the main square full of people in the evening, traditional restaurants around the Zona Rosa, and a tattoo-and-streetwear scene that grows every year, especially near La Magnolia. That atmosphere shows up in what people order — we see a lot of clients here pairing their first grillz set, often in silver, with a pair of fangs for everyday wear, a combination far less common in other areas. Loma del Escobero is the one exception to how easy it is to get around Envigado: since it is car-access only, we always confirm gatehouse and parking with the client before heading up, to avoid wasting time at the entrance. For the rest of the municipality, Ayurá and Envigado stations on Line A make any appointment easy to schedule even during rush hour. If you have a family event or weekend party in mind, book midweek so the mould and delivery are comfortably done before Saturday, avoiding the bustle around the square on Friday evening. Read [how it works](/como-funciona) or compare with [Sabaneta](/zonas/sabaneta), its southern neighbour, if your home or job sits between the two municipalities. Market day around the Parque de Envigado, usually busiest on Saturday mornings, is one window we try to avoid for home visits in the town centre, since parking fills up fast and foot traffic around the fondas makes it slower to reach some buildings on time. Weekday mid-mornings tend to be far calmer for a quick mould appointment near the square, and most clients in the newer towers along Las Vegas prefer that same slot before the workday picks up. Landmarks: Parque Principal de Envigado, Loma del Escobero, La Magnolia, Envigado's Zona Rosa and Viva Envigado mall. Getting there: Ayurá and Envigado stations on Metro Line A connect directly to El Poblado and downtown within minutes. Visits: We visit houses and apartments in Envigado. Loma del Escobero is car-access only, so we confirm gatehouse and parking before heading up. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 15–25 minutes via Avenida Las Vegas or Avenida El Poblado. **Do you visit Loma del Escobero in Envigado?** Yes, but since it is car-access only, we confirm gatehouse and parking with the client beforehand. That avoids delays on the day of the appointment. **Why do Envigado clients often order fangs alongside a first set?** Because many clients here want a piece for everyday wear in addition to their main set. Silver fangs are the most common pairing with a first order. **How quickly can you reach Envigado from El Poblado?** Reference travel time is 15 to 25 minutes via Avenida Las Vegas or Avenida El Poblado. Ayurá and Envigado Metro stations also connect directly in a few minutes. ### Sabaneta — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/sabaneta Sabaneta is Colombia's smallest municipality and one of the fastest-growing in the south of the valley. The fondas around its main square are a paisa party classic, and more and more young locals here start with a silver set. Sabaneta is Colombia's smallest municipality, but its growth in recent years has made it one of the youngest hubs in the south of the valley. Around the Parque de Sabaneta the traditional fondas are still the classic meeting point, but a few blocks away new towers are full of twenty-somethings who work in Medellín and come home here for more affordable rent. That young profile explains why we increasingly see solid silver chosen as a first set in this area, before clients come back later for gold. Almost every Sabaneta visit ends up being to a residential complex with a gatehouse, so the process is simple: we leave your name on arrival and take the mould in your apartment or a common area. Mayorca, right next to Sabaneta station on Line A, works as a clear reference point for any appointment, even if you live several blocks further out. If you are planning a weekend at the fondas and want to show off your new set, book the mould early in the week so the silver is ready in time, and keep in mind the square fills up early on Saturdays. See [prices and materials](/precios) or check [Itagüí](/zonas/itagui), just across the Autopista Sur, if your routine moves between both municipalities. Landmarks: Parque de Sabaneta and its traditional fondas, Mayorca mall and the southern stretch of Avenida Las Vegas. Getting there: Sabaneta station on Metro Line A sits next to Mayorca, a straight ride to Itagüí, Envigado and El Poblado. Visits: We visit residential complexes in Sabaneta. Most have a gatehouse: we leave your name on arrival and take the mould in your apartment or a common area. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 25–35 minutes via Avenida Las Vegas. **Do you visit residential complexes in Sabaneta?** Yes, that is the most common way we work in this area. We leave your name at the gatehouse and take the mould in your apartment or a common area. **Why do so many young Sabaneta clients start with silver?** Because it is usually their first grillz and they want an entry option before deciding on gold later. Solid silver covers that first step well. **How long does it take to reach Sabaneta from El Poblado?** Reference travel time is 25 to 35 minutes via Avenida Las Vegas. Sabaneta station on Line A, next to Mayorca, makes the Metro trip quite direct. ### Itagüí — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/itagui Itagüí is industry, commerce and neighbourhood pride. There is a strong street culture here — music, dance, motorbikes — and grillz fit right in. Most requests are for single gold caps and fangs. Itagüí has its own identity within the Valle de Aburrá, shaped by its industrial and textile tradition and by a strong street culture built around music and motorbikes. That mix shows up directly in what clients order here: fewer full-arch sets, more single gold caps with bold detail, or fangs meant for daily wear rather than a single occasion. Parque Ditaires and the main square are where most of the municipality's social life happens, and many of our clients live a few blocks from one or the other. Visits in Itagüí are almost always by appointment, because the municipality is large and we like to plan the route carefully before heading out; if you would rather skip the wait, you can also reach the studio in a few stops on Metro Line A. Itagüí station connects to bus routes toward the main square and Ditaires, so you do not need a car to get around locally. If you work near Premium Plaza on the Medellín border, booking right after work tends to be the most practical option, especially on weekday late afternoons. Read [the full process](/como-funciona) or compare with [Sabaneta](/zonas/sabaneta), just across the Autopista Sur, if your day splits between the two municipalities. Landmarks: Parque Principal de Itagüí, Parque Ditaires, the Autopista Sur and the malls on the Medellín border. Getting there: Itagüí station on Metro Line A connects to the whole valley, with bus routes from there to the main square and Ditaires. Visits: Home visits in Itagüí are by appointment. You can also reach the studio by Metro in a few stops. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 25–40 minutes depending on the Autopista Sur. **What kind of pieces do Itagüí clients order most?** Mostly single gold caps and fangs for daily wear, more than full-arch sets. It fits the municipality's strong street culture. **Do I need an appointment for a visit in Itagüí?** Yes, because the municipality is large and we prefer to plan the route ahead of time. You can also skip the wait by coming directly on the Metro. **How do I reach Itagüí without a car for an appointment?** Itagüí station on Metro Line A connects to bus routes toward the main square and Ditaires. It is the easiest way to get around the municipality without your own vehicle. ### Bello — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/bello Bello, at the north end of the valley, is home to a big share of Antioquia's urban music talent. It is a sizeable city on its own, and we do not want you crossing all of Medellín for a properly made set. Bello runs on its own schedule: on weekdays the busiest window is midday near Niquía station, when workers from the warehouses and workshops along the industrial corridor step out for lunch, while Saturdays shift the energy toward Puerta del Norte mall. With that mix of office workers, bike riders and young artists starting out in urban music, the most requested piece here is a single upper cap in 9K or 14K gold — visible when you talk or sing, but not in the way at work or on a bike. There is also a different crowd near Parque Santander and the newer complexes along Autopista Norte: families who usually ask about 925 silver first for a teenager before moving on to gold later. For them, a Saturday morning visit works best, before the shops around central Bello fill up with weekend traffic. If you are coming from Olaya Herrera airport or downtown Medellín, the Metro is still the more predictable option against heavy traffic on Avenida Regional during the afternoon rush; book your mould outside that window to avoid delays, especially if you are travelling with luggage or booking the last slot of the day. Landmarks: Parque Santander, the old Fabricato textile mill, Puerta del Norte mall and the Quitasol hill behind it all. Getting there: Bello, Madera and Niquía stations on Metro Line A cover most of the municipality. North to south, the Metro always beats driving. Visits: We group north-valley visits on set days so the trip is worthwhile — we will suggest a date when you write. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 40–60 minutes by car; around 35 minutes end to end by Metro. **Do you do home visits in Bello?** Yes, we come to your home, apartment or shop in Bello by appointment. We group north-valley visits on set dates to keep the trip efficient, so we will offer you the nearest available date. **How long do grillz ordered from Bello take?** Plain silver pieces take 5 to 10 days and gold or iced pieces take 10 to 15 days, the same as anywhere else in Medellín. The area does not change the build time, only when we schedule your mould visit. **What style is most popular in Bello?** The most requested piece is a single upper cap in 9K or 14K gold, made for everyday wear without being flashy. There is also strong demand for 925 silver among teenagers trying the style for the first time. ### Belén — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/belen Belén is Medellín's most populous comuna and one of its most traditional: a church square, a market and corner shops that have been there for decades. Requests here lean toward subtle pieces — a single cap or an open face — for daily wear. Belén is a comuna of market stalls, early mass and corner shops that have carried the same name for thirty years, and that shows in what people order: the subtle piece wins here, a single cap or an open face that reads up close but does not shout from across the room. Many clients working around the Parque de Belén shops or at Universidad de Medellín prefer to try on the design during their lunch break before heading back to the counter or the classroom. Toward Los Alpes and Rosales the profile shifts a little: these are more residential, hillside sectors with young families who sometimes book moulds for two people on the same visit, since we are already coming out. In those cases it helps to tell us in advance so we bring the full kit and avoid a second trip. Traffic on Avenida 80 gets heavy after five on weekdays, so if you live or work along that corridor, morning or early afternoon is the calmer window to host us, and it is also when Metroplús runs with fewer passengers. If you work in one of the shops near the square, we can even meet you there during a short break. Landmarks: Parque de Belén, Los Molinos mall, Universidad de Medellín, Avenida 80 and the nearby Cerro Nutibara. Getting there: Metroplús Line 1 runs through Belén to Universidad de Medellín and connects with the Metro. Avenida 80 and Calle 33 are the main roads by car. Visits: We visit homes all over Belén, from Rosales to Los Alpes. For hillside sectors we confirm access before setting off. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 25–40 minutes via Avenida 80 or Calle 30. **How fast can I book a mould in Belén?** We can usually arrange the visit within a few days, sometimes the same day if the schedule allows. We just need your approximate address and a time when you will be home or at work. **What piece do Belén clients order most?** The most requested option is a single discreet cap or an open face for daily wear. It suits the local mix of shopkeepers and students who want something elegant without being too loud at work. **Do you visit hillside sectors like Los Alpes?** Yes, we cover the whole comuna, including higher sectors like Los Alpes. We just confirm vehicle access or the gatehouse beforehand so we do not lose time on the day of your appointment. ### Centro / La Candelaria — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/centro-la-candelaria Downtown Medellín has been the heart of the city's jewellery trade for decades. That is exactly why we do things differently: no generic counter pieces, only grillz built on a mould of your own teeth. Downtown Medellín has breathed jewellery trade from Junín to Pasaje La Playa for generations, with storefronts that have sold gold by weight for decades. That history means many people working right there, in Junín shops or offices around Parque Berrío, already know the difference between a genuine piece and a generic mould, and come straight to us asking about 14K or 18K built on their own teeth. We also get plenty of visitors doing the Plaza Botero and Museo de Antioquia circuit who discover grillz out of curiosity; for them it works best to arrange the mould at their hotel rather than hunting for downtown parking, which is some of the toughest in the city on weekdays. The calmest window downtown is mid-morning on weekdays, after the rush of people arriving for work and before the shops get packed; by Saturday noon Pasaje Junín becomes nearly impassable, so we avoid that slot to keep appointments on time, especially if you only have a short window between meetings. Landmarks: Plaza Botero, Museo de Antioquia, Parque Berrío, the Junín pedestrian street and the Rafael Uribe Uribe Palace of Culture. Getting there: Parque Berrío and San Antonio stations (where Lines A and B meet) put you right downtown, as does the Ayacucho tram. Visits: Downtown we suggest coming to the studio or meeting at your hotel: traffic and parking make house calls slower. If you are staying in the centre, we will agree a calm meeting point. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 15–25 minutes by Metro; longer by car at rush hour. **Why order custom grillz downtown instead of buying at a jewellery counter?** Because a counter piece is not fitted to your teeth and usually ends up loose or uncomfortable. Our grillz are built on a mould of your own teeth, so they fit without any filing. **Can I meet you downtown instead of a home visit?** Yes, many downtown clients prefer meeting at their hotel or a point near Parque Berrío. Traffic and parking make traditional home visits slower in this area. **Is it practical to book an appointment right in the centre?** Yes, we choose busy, daytime meeting points such as a hotel lobby or a Metro station entrance. We simply avoid scheduling at night downtown for practical mobility reasons. ### Robledo — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/robledo Robledo, in the city's north-west, is a student and neighbourhood comuna with technical universities and a very active rap and freestyle scene. Clients here know what they want and usually arrive with a design in mind. Robledo has a strong identity built around Universidad Nacional, Pascual Bravo and ITM, home to a student crowd that lives rap and freestyle culture almost daily around Cerro El Volador. It is common for clients to arrive with the design already worked out in their head: the exact colour, whether they want a single tooth or a full arch, and even a reference to another artist's grillz they liked, which speeds up the initial conversation about the design considerably. Given the student profile of tight schedules between classes, group projects and exams, we group Robledo appointments with other west-side visits on the same day, which lets us offer more flexible afternoon slots, once most classes are over but there is still daylight for an easy commute. If you are coming by Metro, getting off at Floresta or Suramericana and taking a short bus route along Avenida 80 is usually quicker than driving at that hour, especially on days with activity at the nearby campuses when traffic bunches up around the university entrances. On those days we confirm the appointment with some extra time built in. Robledo's own Metro station sits right by Jardín Botánico and the Parque Explora area, which some clients use as the meeting point instead of a home address when they are coming straight from a nearby campus. The slope up toward the university entrances can add a few extra minutes on foot, so if your building is on the hillside rather than near the station itself, it helps to mention that when you book. Landmarks: Universidad Nacional's Medellín campus near Cerro El Volador, Pascual Bravo and ITM's Robledo campus. Getting there: Floresta and Suramericana stations on Line B plus bus routes along Avenida 80 link Robledo to the rest of the city. Visits: Robledo visits are by appointment, grouped with other west-side appointments on the same day. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 35–50 minutes via Avenida 80. **Do you serve students living near Robledo's universities?** Yes, they make up a significant share of our clients in the area. We schedule visits around class hours, usually in the afternoon. **Can I request a design inspired by another artist?** Yes, many Robledo clients arrive with a clear style or artist reference in mind. We work from your mould to achieve that look while keeping the fit true to your own teeth. **How far ahead should I book in Robledo?** It is best to message us a few days ahead since we group west-side appointments on set dates. The more flexible you are on the day, the faster we can fit you in. ### Las Palmas — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/las-palmas The Las Palmas road climbs east from El Poblado past viewpoints, hotels with valley views and country houses. Many visitors staying here are shuttling to and from the airport, so we plan the mould for their first or second day. The Las Palmas road lives on people passing through: executives in hotels with valley views, travellers arriving at or leaving from José María Córdova airport, and country-house residents who only come down to El Poblado every couple of weeks. Almost every appointment here is planned around a flight or a short stay, so we book the mould as soon as arrival dates are confirmed, not at the last minute. Since there is no Metro on the road, getting around depends on a taxi, a ride-hailing app or your own car, and the exact kilometre marker matters — two hotels that look close on a map can be fifteen minutes apart because of the curves. That is why we always ask for the hotel name or nearest landmark before confirming a time. Guests staying on Las Palmas tend to favour gold or iced pieces, understanding that their trip continues to another city after Medellín; for them we recommend taking the mould on the first or second day of the stay so the build time does not clash with the departure date. Landmarks: The Las Palmas viewpoints, hotels and restaurants overlooking the valley, and the road toward José María Córdova airport. Getting there: There is no Metro on Las Palmas — use a car, taxi or ride-hailing app. It is a short but steep drive up from Parque Lleras. Visits: We visit hotels and houses along the Las Palmas road. Give us the kilometre marker or hotel name so we time our arrival right. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 15–30 minutes depending on where you are on the road. **Can you take the mould right before my return flight?** We do not recommend it since gold or iced pieces need 10 to 15 days. It is best to book the mould on your first or second day on Las Palmas so there is enough time to finish them. **How do you reach me if my hotel is on the Las Palmas road?** We drive or use a ride-hailing app, and we ask for the kilometre marker or exact hotel name to time our arrival correctly. The road has many curves and landmarks make a real difference. **Is this a good area to order gold or iced pieces?** Yes, it is one of the areas where we fit the most gold and iced orders because guests usually stay long enough for the build time. We coordinate delivery before you leave. ### La Estrella — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/la-estrella La Estrella, at the southern tip of the valley, mixes new residential complexes with a traditional town centre and the Romeral nature reserve. It is calm — ideal if you want the whole process without moving around much. La Estrella blends a calm, traditional town centre with newer residential complexes toward Ancón Sur, and life here moves at a slower pace than the rest of the valley: many families schedule errands and appointments for the weekend, when there is no rush to reach jobs further north in the metro area. That makes Saturday morning by far the most requested slot for taking a mould. Orders here tend to be classic: 925 silver for a first experience, and among those who have tried grillz before, a single 14K gold cap. Being a small municipality, it is common for the mould visit to be folded into another errand of the day, since people are already going to be home or near the main square. Since La Estrella is the southern end of Metro Line A, we group its appointments with the Sabaneta–Itagüí corridor on the same day; if your weekday schedule is flexible, that lets us offer you a nearer date than a stand-alone visit would. Being the last stop on Line A also means the station itself is a reliable, well-known meeting point for clients coming from Sabaneta or Itagüí who would rather not give a home address right away. For those living closer to Ancón Sur, confirming whether your building has elevator or ground-floor access helps us plan the short walk from wherever we park. Landmarks: La Estrella's main square, the Ancón Sur area and the Alto de San Miguel–Romeral reserve. Getting there: La Estrella station, the southern end of Metro Line A, runs straight to Sabaneta, Itagüí and El Poblado. Visits: La Estrella visits are by appointment, usually grouped with other south-valley appointments. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 30–45 minutes via the Autopista Sur or Avenida Las Vegas. **What day is best to book in La Estrella?** Saturday morning is the most requested and calmest slot for taking the mould. We also take weekday appointments, though with less availability since south-valley visits are grouped. **What style do La Estrella clients order most?** 925 silver is most common among first-timers, and a single 14K gold cap among those with prior experience. It is an area of classic orders rather than elaborate custom designs. **Is there a long wait for a visit to be scheduled?** Not necessarily, since we group La Estrella with Sabaneta and Itagüí on the same day. With a flexible schedule we usually find you a nearby date. ### Rionegro / Llanogrande — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/rionegro-llanogrande Rionegro and Llanogrande, in eastern Antioquia, are the gateway to José María Córdova airport and an area of country houses and long stays. If you land and stay out east, you do not need to come down to Medellín for impressions. Rionegro and Llanogrande run on the flight schedule at José María Córdova airport: many clients here time their appointment around someone who has just landed or is about to leave, while others live on country estates on long stays with plenty of time to wait for a gold piece. That mix means there is rarely one typical slot — each visit is built around that person's itinerary. Rionegro's main square and malls like San Nicolás are the landmarks we rely on most to find addresses, because in Llanogrande country houses are usually identified by the name of the condominium or estate rather than by a street number. We always ask for that name when confirming so we do not waste time hunting for gates on a rural road. If your plan is to take the mould right after landing and get the finished piece before leaving the country, tell us your departure date from the first message, so we can work out whether the build time fits or whether it is better to ship the finished piece afterward by insured international courier. Landmarks: José María Córdova airport, Rionegro's main square, the Llanogrande country-house area and malls such as San Nicolás and Llanogrande Plaza. Getting there: From Medellín you go up through the Túnel de Oriente or the Las Palmas road. There is no Metro out east, so it is car, intercity bus or taxi. Visits: We schedule east-side visits on set days. If you have a flight, we can take the mould soon after you land and plan the final fitting before you leave. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 45–70 minutes depending on route and traffic. **Can you take the mould the same day I land at the airport?** Yes, this is something we arrange often in Rionegro and Llanogrande. We just need your arrival time and where you will be staying. **How do you find country houses in Llanogrande?** We ask for the name of the condominium or estate, which is usually the clearest landmark in the area. Street numbering alone is not always enough to locate a country house. **What if my departure flight is before the piece is ready?** We can ship your finished grillz by insured, tracked international courier. Tell us your departure date from the first message so we can plan ahead. ### Comuna 13 — https://grillzmedellin.com/en/zonas/comuna-13 Comuna 13 — San Javier — went from a symbol of conflict to one of Latin America's landmarks of street art: graffiti, hip hop, breaking. You cannot talk about Medellín street culture without it, and grillz belong to the same aesthetic. Comuna 13 runs on two rhythms at once: a steady flow of tourism around the open-air escalators and the Graffitour murals, and the everyday life of Las Independencias, where hip hop and breaking have been part of the neighbourhood's identity for years rather than a passing trend. For long-time residents, grillz are usually just another piece of that urban aesthetic, often fangs or a single gold cap to complete an everyday look. For visitors passing through the 13 on a day tour, taking the mould mid-walk between murals is rarely practical: it works better to book the appointment at your accommodation in Poblado, Laureles or downtown on another day, so the process does not interrupt the tour or depend on finding a quiet corner in the Graffitour crowd. If you live in the 13 and would rather have us come to you, we find a car-accessible meeting point, usually near San Javier station or Metrocable Line J, so you do not have to carry anything down to the escalators yourself. On weekends, when the tour is busiest, we prefer weekday bookings for a calmer visit. Landmarks: The open-air escalators, the Graffitour murals, Las Independencias and Metrocable Line J. Getting there: San Javier station at the end of Line B connects to Metrocable J and the routes up to the escalators. Visits: If you live in the 13 we agree a car-accessible meeting point; if you are visiting on the Graffitour, it is better to book impressions at your accommodation on another day. Timing: Reference travel time from El Poblado: 30–45 minutes by car, or about 30 minutes by Metro changing at San Antonio. **Can I get the mould taken during the Graffitour?** It is not very practical since the tour is crowded and there is no quiet spot for impressions. It works better to book the visit at your accommodation on another day of your trip. **Do you visit Las Independencias directly?** Yes, if you live in the 13 we find a car-accessible meeting point, usually near San Javier or Metrocable Line J. That way we avoid carrying the kit up the escalators in the area. **What pieces are typical among Comuna 13 residents?** Fangs and a single gold cap are the most requested, fitting the neighbourhood's urban aesthetic tied to hip hop and breaking. There is also growing interest in silver pieces among newcomers to the style. ## Blog articles ### Removable vs permanent grillz in Medellín URL: https://grillzmedellin.com/en/blog/grillz-removibles-vs-permanentes · Published 2026-10-10 · Updated 2026-10-13 At Grillz Medellín we only make removable grillz, custom-built on a mould or scan of your mouth with no filing of your teeth. Permanent grillz are caps or crowns cemented by a dentist, almost always involving tooth reduction, so for that option we always recommend speaking directly with a dental professional first. #### What a removable grillz is A removable grillz is a custom metal piece that fits over your teeth like a sleeve and comes off whenever you want: to eat, to sleep, or simply when you are not wearing it. It is built from a mould or digital scan of your mouth, which guarantees a precise fit without touching the enamel or structure of your natural teeth. This is exactly what we make at Grillz Medellín: pieces in 925 silver, chrome, 9K-to-18K gold, or iced versions with stones, all designed to go on and come off freely. See the full mould and manufacturing process at how it works (https://grillzmedellin.com/como-funciona). #### What a permanent grillz is A permanent grillz, on the other hand, does not come off: these are metal caps or crowns cemented onto teeth by a dentist, usually after grinding down or reducing part of the natural tooth structure so the piece fits and bonds permanently. It is a clinical procedure, not a piece of jewellery you put on and take off. We do not offer this service, because it involves an irreversible dental intervention that needs to be assessed, planned, and carried out by a dental professional with the right training and equipment, not a jewellery studio. #### Why we only work with removable pieces We choose to focus on removable grillz because they give you the same visual impact with zero risk to your natural teeth. There is no grinding, no permanent cement, and no step that cannot be undone: if you ever decide to stop wearing them, you simply put them away. This also gives you the freedom to change styles over time. You can have a silver set for everyday wear and a gold or iced set for special occasions, something that is simply not possible with a permanently cemented piece. See the full range of combinations at styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos). #### If you want something permanent, talk to a dentist first If what you have in mind is a permanent dental modification, our honest recommendation is to consult a trusted dentist first. A professional can assess the real condition of your teeth, explain how much reduction the procedure would involve in your specific case, and whether it is a sound long-term option for you. That conversation belongs in a dental office, with a clinical history, X-rays, and follow-up, not in a jewellery studio. It is information anyone considering a permanent option should have before making a decision that cannot be reversed. #### Hygiene: removable vs permanent With a removable grillz, hygiene is simple since you can take the piece off to brush your teeth normally and clean the piece separately with its own routine. This lowers the risk of plaque buildup under the metal, something that can be a real concern with permanent pieces that cover a tooth around the clock. With a permanently cemented piece, cleaning around the edge where the metal meets the gum needs more care and regular check-ups with the dentist who performed the procedure. To go deeper on caring for removable pieces, check how to clean and care for your grillz (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/como-limpiar-y-cuidar-tus-grillz). #### Cost: an honest comparison Our removable grillz have clear per-tooth pricing: solid 925 silver from COP 250,000, chrome/dental gold COP 320,000, 9K gold from COP 900,000, 14K COP 1,250,000, 18K COP 1,500,000, iced silver from COP 500,000, and iced gold from COP 1,250,000. See the full table at prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios). Permanent dental procedures follow a different cost structure, including the consultation, the clinical procedure, and dental materials, and only a dental office can quote that accurately for your case. We do not handle or quote that kind of procedure. #### Reversibility: the difference that matters most Reversibility is, in our view, the single most important point in this whole comparison. A removable grillz changes nothing permanently: if you stop wearing it, your teeth are exactly as they were before. It is a low-risk decision you can try, adjust, or walk away from with no lasting consequences. A permanent piece, on the other hand, usually involves tooth reduction that is not reversed even if you later decide to remove the piece. That is why we keep stressing that anyone considering a permanent option should talk to a dentist in detail before moving forward. #### Thinking about travel with your grillz If you travel often or only want to wear your grillz on specific occasions, removable is by far the more practical option: you keep it in its case, travel without it on, and put it on only when you want the look. There is no customs issue and no special care needed beyond storing it properly. If you are staying in areas like Provenza (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/provenza) or Las Palmas (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/las-palmas) during your visit to Medellín, we can take your mould at your location and coordinate so your piece is ready or shipped in time for your return. #### How to get started with a removable grillz If this comparison has made it clear that removable is the option you want, the next step is simple: build your design in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza), choose a metal and style, and book your mould appointment at the studio or at your location anywhere in Medellín and the Valle de Aburrá. If you also want to know how long it takes to get your piece ready, check our guide at how long grillz take to make (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/cuanto-tardan-en-hacer-grillz) before booking your appointment via WhatsApp or at contact@grillzmedellin.com. #### Questions to ask before you choose Before settling on removable or a permanent intervention, it helps to ask yourself a few simple questions. Do you want to wear grillz every day, or only for specific occasions like a party, an event, or a trip? Does reversibility matter to you, meaning the ability to go back to how things were without any lasting change to your teeth? Do you want the freedom to switch metals or styles over time, or do you prefer one fixed piece for life? If the answers point toward flexibility, variety of styles, and zero risk to your natural teeth, removable is usually the more practical answer. If instead you are after something definitive and are prepared to take on an irreversible clinical procedure, that conversation belongs with a dentist, not with a jewellery studio like ours. Either way, asking yourself these questions honestly before spending time and money saves you regret later. We always prefer that a customer comes in with clear expectations about what a removable grillz can and cannot do. #### Removable grillz for work and everyday life One of the biggest advantages of removable grillz is that they adapt to your routine instead of imposing one on you. If you work in an office, deal with clients, or simply prefer a more discreet look Monday through Friday, you can keep your grillz stored during the week and wear it on a weekend, a night out, or a photo shoot. That is something a permanently cemented piece simply does not allow: once it is installed, it stays there all the time, with no way to adjust it for a dress code, an interview, or a formal event. With removable, you decide when to show the piece and when not to, without it affecting your job or your social life. Many of our customers in Medellín use their removable grillz exactly this way: as an accessory for specific moments, not as something permanent they have to plan their whole workday around. #### How we check the fit at the mould appointment When we take your mould or scan, the main goal is for the finished piece to sit firmly on your teeth without any glue or dental adjustment needed. We check the shape, size, and position of each tooth so the grillz holds in place through natural friction, just like a well-made sleeve. This process takes only a few minutes at the studio or at your location anywhere in Medellín and the Valle de Aburrá, and it is exactly what lets us guarantee a precise fit without touching the enamel. You can see the full step-by-step at how it works (https://grillzmedellin.com/como-funciona). If at any point the piece feels a bit loose or tight, that is something that can be reviewed and adjusted, very different from a permanently cemented piece, where any correction means intervening on the tooth again. #### Travel and airport security with removable grillz If you are travelling with your removable grillz, you do not need to worry about security checks or customs paperwork: since it is a small metal piece, you can carry it in your hand luggage inside its case, just like any other piece of jewellery, and send it through the scanner without any issue. The most practical approach is usually not to wear it during the flight and to keep it in its original case to avoid scratches or losing it among your belongings. This is another advantage over permanent options: there is no fixed piece in your mouth that you need to explain or justify at a checkpoint. If you are visiting Medellín and staying in areas like El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado) or Laureles (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/laureles), we can coordinate your mould appointment as soon as you arrive so your piece is ready before your return flight. #### Cost over time: removable versus permanent A removable grillz has a single, clear cost per tooth depending on the metal you choose: from COP 250,000 in solid 925 silver to COP 1,500,000 in 18K gold, with iced options from COP 500,000. Once you pay that amount, the piece is yours and there are no recurring costs tied to normal use. A permanent dental procedure, by contrast, usually follows a different cost structure over time: the initial consultation, the clinical procedure itself, the materials, and, in many cases, periodic check-ups or maintenance with the dentist who did the work. Only a dental office can give you that long-term cost projection, not us. For anyone who wants to try the grillz look without committing to a recurring expense or an irreversible procedure, removable tends to be the more predictable option over time. URL: https://grillzmedellin.com/en/blog/cuanto-tardan-en-hacer-grillz · Published 2026-10-08 · Updated 2026-10-13 At Grillz Medellín, plain pieces (silver or chrome) usually take 5 to 10 business days, while karat gold and iced pieces with stones take 10 to 15 business days. The exact timeline depends on design complexity, chosen metal and how many teeth your set covers. #### The full process, step by step Making custom grillz is not like buying a piece off a shelf: every piece is built on the exact shape of your mouth, so the process has several stages and each one takes time. It starts with taking a mould or digital scan of your teeth, continues with design and casting, moves on to polishing and, if applicable, setting stones, and finishes with quality control and final fitting before delivery. Understanding these stages helps you plan better, especially if you are coming from outside the city or working around a deadline like a trip, a concert, or an event. See every stage and material in detail at how it works (https://grillzmedellin.com/como-funciona) before booking your appointment. #### Stage 1: taking the mould or scan The first stage is quick: taking the mould of your teeth takes about 20 minutes, whether at the studio or at your home, hotel, or Airbnb anywhere in Medellín and the Valle de Aburrá. This step is key because the final fit depends on it: no filing your teeth, no forcing a fit. Once the mould or digital scan is taken, the production-day count officially starts. If you book ahead, you can line up the mould for the same day you confirm design and metal in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza), saving yourself an extra visit. #### Stage 2: design, casting, and metal finishing With the mould ready, an exact model of your arch is made, and the piece is cast in your chosen metal: 925 silver, chrome, or 9K, 14K, or 18K gold. This stage includes the casting itself, trimming excess material, and a first polish to check the fit before moving to final finishing. Plain pieces without stones are the fastest to complete at this stage since they need no setting work. If your design includes details like fangs, open face, or colour combinations, this phase takes a bit longer because of the extra manual goldsmith work involved. #### Stage 3: stone setting for iced pieces When a design includes moissanite, lab-grown diamond, or natural diamond, an extra stage is added: setting, stone by stone, onto the already cast and polished base. This part of the process is the most time-intensive craftwork, since each stone is individually fixed and checked for a firm, aligned placement. That is why iced pieces always fall in the higher end of delivery timelines. The more stones and teeth a design covers, the longer this stage takes. See examples of iced finishes and metal combinations at styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos). #### Timeframes: 5–10 days vs 10–15 days In general, plain pieces in solid 925 silver or chrome/dental gold are ready in 5 to 10 business days from when the mould is taken. These are the fastest options since they go through fewer manufacturing stages. Karat gold pieces (9K, 14K, 18K) and all iced pieces, regardless of the base metal, take 10 to 15 business days. This covers both simple gold sets and full sets with many stones, though within that range the more elaborate designs tend to land closer to the upper end. #### What speeds things up or causes delays Several factors affect where your order falls within those ranges. A single-tooth or few-tooth silver piece moves faster than a full arch; a simple design with no stones moves faster than one with moissanite set tooth by tooth. The workshop's order volume at a given moment can also shift timing within the stated range. For natural or lab-grown diamonds on larger pieces, the timeline can run past 15 days, since every quote and every setting job is handled individually based on stone size and count. If you have a deadline, let us know from your first message on WhatsApp or at contact@grillzmedellin.com so we can plan the design around that timeframe. #### Planning ahead as a visitor or tourist If you are just passing through Medellín, it is best to book the mould as soon as you arrive, not near the end of your trip. With a minimum of 5 to 10 days available in the city, you can cover even the plain-piece process; if your trip is shorter, we can arrange to ship the finished piece to your home city once it is ready. Many visitors stay in areas like El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado) or Laureles (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/laureles), and from there it is easy to coordinate both the mould appointment and final delivery without losing itinerary time. If your schedule is tight, also check our full guide at grillz Medellín for visitors: timeline (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/grillz-medellin-visitantes-cronograma). #### Domestic and international shipping Once your piece is finished, polished, and approved in quality control, it is packed and shipped insured and tracked, both within Colombia and abroad. Shipping time is added on top of production time, so if you will not be in Medellín to pick it up in person, plan a few extra days depending on the destination. The balance is charged on delivery, after the initial deposit paid before casting begins. That way, you only complete payment once the piece is finished and ready to head your way. #### Frequently asked questions about delivery timelines A common question is whether the process can be sped up by paying more. In general we do not run a rush service, because every stage, from casting to polishing, needs its own time for the final fit to be correct and the finish to come out flawless; rushing a stage compromises the quality of the piece. What we can do is prioritise your spot in the production queue if you let us know ahead of time about a specific deadline. Another frequent question is what happens if you need an adjustment after delivery. If the fit is not perfect when you receive the piece, we check the adjustment at no extra cost; that is why the quality-control stage before shipping matters so much, and why it is worth trying the piece on as soon as you get it, before heading off on a trip or to an important event. #### Timing differences between a small set and a full arch The number of teeth your design covers also affects where it falls within the ranges above. A single-tooth or few-tooth silver piece usually lands toward the shorter end of the 5-to-10-day range, since there is less surface to cast, polish, and fit. A full arch, especially in gold or with iced stones, means more goldsmith work at every stage: more metal to cast precisely, more surface to polish evenly, and, if applicable, far more stones to set one by one. That is why full iced-gold arches tend to land closer to the upper end of the 10-to-15-day range, and it is worth planning around that margin if you have a specific date by which you need to be wearing them. #### How to start your order today Another factor that is sometimes overlooked is seasonality: during high-demand dates, like year-end holidays or big music events in the city, order volume rises, and it is worth booking your mould with a bit of extra margin beyond the usual, precisely to stay within the normal 5-to-15-day range without surprises. The first step to activate any of these timelines is nailing down your design: metal, style, and whether you want stones or not. You can put together your full combination in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza) and check the exact per-tooth price in prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios) before booking your mould. If you are unsure which metal suits how often you will wear your grillz, check the full comparison at gold or silver: which grillz to choose (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/oro-o-plata-que-grillz-elegir) before deciding and booking your appointment. #### Tracking your order from mould to delivery Once your mould is taken, we keep you updated at the key checkpoints rather than leaving you guessing for the full 5 to 15 days: a confirmation once the mould is approved and casting begins, a note when the piece moves into polishing or stone setting, and a final message once it has passed quality control and is ready to ship or be picked up. If a specific stage is going to run longer than expected, we tell you as soon as we know, not on the day it was originally due. This is especially useful if you are coordinating the delivery around travel, since you can plan whether to wait in Medellín, have it waiting at your hotel, or arrange shipping to arrive right after you land elsewhere. If you booked your mould in an outer area and arranged a home visit (https://grillzmedellin.com/como-funciona), the same checkpoints apply regardless of where the mould was taken. ### Grillz price per tooth in Medellín: the full breakdown URL: https://grillzmedellin.com/en/blog/precio-grillz-por-diente-medellin · Published 2026-10-06 · Updated 2026-10-13 At Grillz Medellín pricing runs per tooth: 925 silver from COP 250,000, chrome/dental gold COP 320,000, 9K gold COP 900,000, 14K gold COP 1,250,000, 18K gold COP 1,500,000, iced silver from COP 500,000, and iced gold from COP 1,250,000. Your set's total depends only on how many teeth you cover and which material you choose; natural or lab-grown diamond is quoted separately. #### How per-tooth pricing works Unlike a flat price for "a grillz", Grillz Medellín prices each piece tooth by tooth, because every piece is built to the exact measurements of your mouth. That means the final price depends directly on two choices: how many teeth you want covered (from a single piece to a full arch) and which material you pick for those teeth. This system is more transparent than a flat price, because it lets you dial in your exact budget to your taste: you could cover just your two front teeth in 18K gold, or a full arch in silver, and the math is always the same: price per tooth multiplied by the number of teeth. #### The price-per-tooth table Solid 925 silver: COP 250,000 per tooth. Chrome / dental gold: COP 320,000 per tooth. 9K gold: COP 900,000 per tooth. 14K gold: COP 1,250,000 per tooth. 18K gold: COP 1,500,000 per tooth. Iced silver with moissanite: from COP 500,000 per tooth. Iced gold with moissanite: from COP 1,250,000 per tooth. Lab-grown or natural diamond: custom quote, no fixed table. White, yellow and rose gold cost exactly the same within the same karat — colour choice does not change the price. You can see these material and finish combinations in detail at styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos) before deciding on your combination. #### Example 1: a single front piece A single front tooth in 925 silver costs COP 250,000. The same tooth in 14K gold rises to COP 1,250,000, and in 18K gold reaches COP 1,500,000. If you'd rather have a single piece with a bit of sparkle, one tooth in iced silver starts from COP 500,000. This single-tooth option is popular with people trying the grillz look for the first time without committing to a full set, or with anyone after a subtle accent rather than a fully covered smile. #### Example 2: a six-tooth top set A set of six front top teeth is one of the most common orders. In 925 silver: 6 × COP 250,000 = COP 1,500,000. In 14K gold: 6 × COP 1,250,000 = COP 7,500,000. In iced silver: 6 × COP 500,000 = COP 3,000,000 at minimum, depending on how many stones each piece carries. This kind of set gives a very full look to your smile without covering both arches, and is usually the recommended starting point for anyone wanting strong visual impact on a mid-range budget. #### Example 3: a full top and bottom arch For a full arch (typically 8 to 10 teeth per arch, depending on your mouth), the math simply multiplies the per-tooth price by the total number of pieces. In 9K gold, a full 16-tooth arch would work out to 16 × COP 900,000 = COP 14,400,000; in 925 silver, 16 × COP 250,000 = COP 4,000,000. Because of the sheer number of pieces involved, many people mix materials — gold on the top arch and silver on the bottom, say — to balance budget while keeping an interesting visual contrast between the two. #### What moves the final price up or down The factor that changes the total the most is material: going from silver to 18K gold can multiply the price by six for the same number of teeth. The second factor is how many teeth you cover: every extra tooth adds its own full price, with no volume discount. For iced pieces, the "from" price can climb depending on the size and density of stones set into each piece; pieces with more or larger stones cost more than the table minimum. For natural or lab-grown diamond, pricing is always quoted individually by stone size, clarity and count, never off a fixed table. #### Deposit and balance A deposit is paid before any piece is cast; the remaining balance is paid on delivery, either in person or when the shipment arrives. This protects both the manufacturing work and your investment: the full amount is never charged upfront before the process even starts. Turnaround also varies by material: simple silver or chrome pieces take 5 to 10 days, while gold or iced pieces take 10 to 15 days. You can read through the full process, from mould to delivery, in how long does it take to make grillz? (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/cuanto-tardan-en-hacer-grillz). #### How to work out your exact budget The calculation always follows the same formula: per-tooth price of the material you choose, multiplied by the number of teeth you want covered. You can do this math yourself with the table above, or simulate your exact set in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza), where you choose material, tooth count and style and see the total before booking anything. For an overview of every catalogue price in one place, also check the prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios) page, which summarises the same table alongside turnaround times and the deposit policy. #### Where your mould gets taken No matter how many teeth you're covering, the process always starts with a mould of your mouth, which you can book at the studio or at home in areas like El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado), Laureles (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/laureles), Envigado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/envigado) and the rest of the Valle de Aburrá. The mould takes about 20 minutes and is the same step whether you choose silver, gold or an iced piece. If you want to understand how to find the right service near your area before booking, read grillz near me in Medellín (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/grillz-cerca-de-mi-medellin), where we explain what to check before paying any deposit. #### Example 4: an eight-tooth set in 9K gold vs. iced An eight-tooth set is another popular combination, usually covering the whole visible top row when you smile. In 9K gold: 8 × COP 900,000 = COP 7,200,000 (≈US$1,800). In 14K gold: 8 × COP 1,250,000 = COP 10,000,000 (≈US$2,500). In 18K gold: 8 × COP 1,500,000 = COP 12,000,000 (≈US$3,000). If you'd rather have the same set with sparkle, eight teeth in iced gold start from 8 × COP 1,250,000 = COP 10,000,000 (≈US$2,500) at minimum, rising with the number of stones per piece. By comparison, the same eight-tooth set in 925 silver costs 8 × COP 250,000 = COP 2,000,000 (≈US$500), which shows why material is the variable that moves the final budget the most. For an eight-tooth iced silver set, the starting point is 8 × COP 500,000 = COP 4,000,000 (≈US$1,000), a middle ground between gold's sparkle and solid silver's lower price. #### Example 5: a ten-tooth set and a material comparison A ten-tooth set usually covers the whole visible arch from side to side on a wide smile. In 925 silver: 10 × COP 250,000 = COP 2,500,000 (≈US$625). In chrome/dental gold: 10 × COP 320,000 = COP 3,200,000 (≈US$800). In 9K gold: 10 × COP 900,000 = COP 9,000,000 (≈US$2,250). In 14K gold: 10 × COP 1,250,000 = COP 12,500,000 (≈US$3,125). In 18K gold: 10 × COP 1,500,000 = COP 15,000,000 (≈US$3,750). In iced silver, ten teeth start from 10 × COP 500,000 = COP 5,000,000 (≈US$1,250), and in iced gold they start from 10 × COP 1,250,000 = COP 12,500,000 (≈US$3,125) at minimum. Laying out these ten figures side by side makes the jump between karats obvious: silver to 9K gold nearly quadruples the price, and 9K to 18K climbs considerably again. If your budget sits between these extremes, a common option is mixing materials within the same set — chrome/dental gold on less visible teeth, say, with 14K or 18K gold reserved for just the two or four front teeth. #### Iced vs. plain pieces: how pricing differs A plain piece (no stones) always starts at its material's base price: silver, chrome, or whichever gold karat you pick. An iced piece starts from a higher "from" price, because on top of the metal it includes stone-setting — moissanite in the standard options, or natural/lab-grown diamond under separate quote. The gap between plain silver (COP 250,000) and iced silver (from COP 500,000) is exactly the cost of moving from a stoneless piece to one with set stones; the same logic applies in gold: plain 14K gold (COP 1,250,000) versus iced gold (from COP 1,250,000, which can climb with stone size and count). This means you can mix plain and iced pieces within the same set — for example, one iced centre tooth with the rest in plain metal — to concentrate the sparkle where it shows most when you smile, without paying the iced price across your whole mouth. #### Why pricing is per tooth, not per set Charging per tooth, instead of offering fixed packages like a "6-tooth set" or "10-tooth set" at one price, exists because every mouth is different: how many teeth show when you smile varies from person to person, as does the size and shape of each tooth. A fixed set price would force someone with six small teeth to pay the same as someone with six large teeth, even though the second case uses more material. Charging per tooth means the price always reflects exactly what's built for your mouth, no more and no less. This model also gives you full control over budget: you can start with two teeth and later add more pieces to the same set, paying only for the new teeth rather than redoing the whole order from scratch. #### Deposit, balance and how to plan the payment The deposit is paid before pieces are cast and secures your spot in production; the balance is paid on delivery, whether you collect in person or receive a shipment. No set is made without a deposit, and no balance is charged before the work is finished. To plan your payment, it helps to think in two moments: mould day (when you decide material, tooth count and style, and pay the deposit) and delivery day (when you pay the remaining balance and receive your set). Between those two moments is 5 to 15 days, depending on material. If you're only in Medellín briefly, book your mould as soon as you arrive so delivery lines up with the rest of your trip; see full timing recommendations in Grillz Medellín for visitors: a timeline (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/grillz-medellin-visitantes-cronograma). #### Budgeting tips for visitors and locals If your budget is tight, starting with 925 silver or chrome/dental gold gets you the same custom fit and the same mould process as gold, at a fraction of the per-tooth price. You can always upgrade material later by adding new pieces to the same set. If sparkle matters more to you than karat, iced silver usually gives more visual impact for the same budget than plain gold on just a few teeth. If gold's weight and colour are the priority, concentrate gold on the front teeth and use chrome or silver on the less visible side teeth. Either way, before booking your mould, build your exact set in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza) to see the total for the tooth count and material you actually want, and also check gold or silver: which grillz to choose (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/oro-o-plata-que-grillz-elegir) if you're still deciding between materials. ### Grillz near me in Medellín: how to find the right maker URL: https://grillzmedellin.com/en/blog/grillz-cerca-de-mi-medellin · Published 2026-10-02 · Updated 2026-10-13 Searching "grillz near me" in Medellín usually leads to generic one-size pieces; at Grillz Medellín we take your mould at your home or hotel anywhere in the city and the Valle de Aburrá, so there is no need for a physical shop near you. What matters is not distance on a map, but whether the mould is actually yours and the fit is exact. #### Why "near me" isn't quite the right question When someone searches "grillz near me" in Medellín, what they actually need is not a shop around the corner but an exact fit to their teeth. A real grillz is built on a mould or scan of your mouth; once that mould exists, the distance between your home and the workshop stops mattering, because the fine casting and polishing work happens afterward, out of sight. That changes the question: instead of looking for the nearest shop on the map, it is worth asking who can take your mould wherever you are, with the right care. That is the difference between a custom-fitted grillz and a generic piece bought off a counter. #### How a home visit works in Medellín At Grillz Medellín we come to your home, hotel or Airbnb anywhere in Medellín and the Valle de Aburrá to take the mould. The process takes about 20 minutes: we prepare the impression material, take the mould of the arch you want covered (top, bottom or both), and check it came out complete before leaving. You do not need to travel or book a slot at a shop; we coordinate the time over WhatsApp around your schedule. This is especially useful for people working shifts, visitors in town for only a few days, or anyone who simply prefers not to leave home for this kind of appointment. #### Areas that request home visits most Requests come in from across the city, but a few areas see more visits due to their density of hotels, Airbnbs and nightlife. In El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado) and Provenza (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/provenza), many clients are visitors staying only a few days who want their mould taken as early as possible so they don't lose trip time. In Laureles (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/laureles) and Envigado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/envigado) most requests come from residents who simply prefer the convenience of not travelling. We also regularly cover Sabaneta (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/sabaneta), Itagüí (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/itagui), Bello (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/bello) and the rest of the Valle de Aburrá: coverage is the same no matter which neighbourhood you're in. #### What a real maker should check before charging you A serious maker never charges the full amount upfront, and never hands you a one-size piece disguised as "custom". Before taking your mould, they should ask which arch you want covered, what style you're after (silver, gold, iced), and show you the karat and finish options available at styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos). They should also clearly explain the deposit paid before casting and the balance paid on delivery, along with an estimated turnaround. If nobody asks to mould your mouth yet still promises a "perfect fit", that is a sign the piece will be generic. #### Physical mould vs. digital scan A traditional physical mould uses impression material that sets within minutes inside your mouth; a digital scan, where available, captures the shape of your teeth with an optical device. Both methods are valid as long as the result is a faithful, complete record of your arch, with no incomplete spots or bubbles. What you should never accept is skipping this step entirely. Regardless of the technique, the goal is the same: the final piece should fit your exact teeth, not an average mould made for "most mouths". #### Red flags of a generic piece The clearest red flag is being offered a grillz handed over on the spot, with no mould-taking step at all: that is only possible with pre-made sizes that fit "roughly" any mouth, never with real precision. Another red flag is a seller who cannot tell you the exact material (is it real 925 silver? what karat of gold?) or show you a clear per-tooth price range. Also be wary of anyone pressuring you to pay 100% upfront without showing samples of past work, or anyone with no way to contact them afterward if something doesn't sit right. A serious business keeps channels open, like WhatsApp or contact@grillzmedellin.com, for any later adjustment. #### What happens after the mould is taken Once the mould is taken, the team checks it is complete before starting any casting, and confirms in writing the material, tooth count and exact deposit due. From that point the process follows the same flow whether the mould was taken at the studio or at your home: manufacturing, polishing, fit testing and final delivery, either in person or via insured shipping. Staying in touch during this period is simple: any question about progress is answered over WhatsApp, with no need to travel again until delivery day. #### Why coverage across the whole metro area matters A city the size of Medellín and its surrounding municipalities has very different traffic patterns depending on the time of day, so offering coverage across the full Valle de Aburrá, not just the most central neighbourhoods, is what actually makes "near me" meaningful for most people. Someone in Itagüí or Bello deserves the same quality of service as someone in El Poblado, without having to cross the whole city to get it. That is why we treat home visits as a standard part of the service rather than an extra, charged the same regardless of which part of the metro area you are in. The goal is simple: wherever you are, the mould comes to you, and the price and process stay exactly the same. #### What to ask before booking your mould Before committing, ask: is the mould taken at my place or do I need to travel?, how much is it per tooth for the material I want?, what is the turnaround time?, what deposit is paid and when is the rest due? The answers should be concrete, not vague. Also check whether they can show you the full price range upfront at prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios), and whether there is a place to build your own design before deciding, like the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza). If a brand doesn't offer this clarity publicly, it's harder to trust the rest of the process will be transparent. #### Home mould vs. studio mould Both options produce the same final result because the mould itself is identical; the only thing that changes is where it's taken. Choosing the studio can make sense if you're already going to be in that area for another reason; choosing a home visit makes sense if you want to skip the trip or you're only staying in the city temporarily. If you're visiting Medellín for just a few days, it's also worth reading the visitor's timeline (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/grillz-medellin-visitantes-cronograma), which explains how to fit the mould, manufacturing and delivery into a short trip without delays. #### Real coverage across the Valle de Aburrá Beyond the city centre, we also regularly visit Belén (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/belen), Robledo (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/robledo), Estadio (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/estadio), Manila (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/manila), Centro - La Candelaria (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/centro-la-candelaria), Las Palmas (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/las-palmas), La Estrella (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/la-estrella), Comuna 13 (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/comuna-13) and Rionegro - Llanogrande (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/rionegro-llanogrande). Coverage reaches practically any address within the metro area. If you don't see your exact neighbourhood listed, write to us anyway: chances are it falls within one of these coverage zones. Check the full list at areas (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas) before messaging us to confirm your location. #### Comparing a few makers before you book It's reasonable to message more than one maker before committing, especially if this is your first time getting grillz. Compare not just the price per tooth, but how clearly each one explains the deposit, the turnaround time, and what exactly is included — case, care instructions, a fit check before the balance is due. A maker who takes the time to explain their process in writing, answers specific questions about materials, and points you to real examples of styles (rather than vague descriptions) is usually a safer bet than one who just quotes a number and asks for payment upfront. #### Getting grillz near you if you're only in Medellín briefly If you're a short-term visitor rather than a resident, "near me" takes on a slightly different meaning: what matters most is whether the maker can fit a home or hotel visit into your actual schedule, not just your neighbourhood. Since the mould only takes about 20 minutes, it's usually easy to slot in around sightseeing or other plans, as long as you reach out early. For a full breakdown of how to time the mould, production and handover around a short trip, see the visitor's timeline (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/grillz-medellin-visitantes-cronograma) — it covers everything from a quick weekend to a month-long stay, including what to do if your flight leaves before the piece is finished. #### How to book your mould today The first step is messaging us on WhatsApp or at contact@grillzmedellin.com with your area, the style you're after, and whether you'd rather have the mould taken at home or at the studio. We coordinate the time around your schedule, usually within the following days. After the mould is taken, the deposit is paid and manufacturing begins: 5 to 10 days for simple silver or chrome pieces, and 10 to 15 days for gold or iced pieces. The balance is paid on delivery, either at the same address or via insured shipping anywhere in Colombia. ### Getting grillz made in Medellín as a visitor: a timeline URL: https://grillzmedellin.com/en/blog/grillz-medellin-visitantes-cronograma · Published 2026-09-22 · Updated 2026-10-13 Grillz Medellín regularly fits visitors passing through the city, and the key rule is simple: get fitted early in your trip, ideally in your first two or three days. Silver is ready in 5–10 days, gold and iced in 10–15. If you fly out first, we ship your set home. #### Before you land Email or WhatsApp us with your dates in Medellín and where you are staying. Tell us roughly what you want — a couple of fangs, a six-tooth top, iced or plain — and we will tell you honestly whether it fits your timeline. The single biggest factor is when you book the mould, not how many total days you are in town. Every day you wait to get fitted is a day off the production window, so get fitted early in your trip whenever possible. #### Days 1–3: the mould We take impressions at our studio or come to your hotel or Airbnb — El Poblado, Provenza, Manila and Laureles are routine for us, and we cover the whole Valle de Aburrá; see all areas we cover (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas). It takes about 20 minutes: you bite into a tray of dental impression material for a couple of minutes per arch. No filing, no drilling, no dentist chair. If you are jet-lagged, a morning slot on day two works fine. #### Days 2–5: design sign-off We send a design proposal by email: tooth selection, metal and karat, finish (mirror, diamond-cut, open face) and any stones. Once you approve and pay the deposit, the metal is bought and casting begins. Not sure which metal? Our gold vs silver guide (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/oro-o-plata-que-grillz-elegir) breaks it down by budget and how often you plan to wear the piece. #### Production windows Plain silver or chrome: 5–10 days from the mould. Gold (9K, 14K, 18K) and iced pieces: 10–15 days, because karat casting and hand stone-setting take longer. So for a two-week trip, silver is comfortable and gold is doable if you book on day one or two. For a one-week trip, silver fangs or a small set is the realistic choice — or order gold and have it shipped afterwards. #### Fitting and handover in person We do a final fitting, adjust if needed, and hand over the set with a case and care instructions. We show you how to put them in and take them out without forcing anything, so they are comfortable from day one. Pay the balance at handover. Then go enjoy Medellín — though maybe take them out for the bandeja paisa. #### Flying out before it's ready? No problem. We finish the piece, check the fit against your mould and send it by insured, tracked international courier. Shipping is quoted by destination before you leave, so you know the full cost upfront. See prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios) for per-tooth costs with USD equivalents, or start building your piece now in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza). #### Common visitor mistakes The most common one is messaging the day you land and asking for the set the next morning: the mould itself is fast, but casting needs real time, especially in gold. The second mistake is not confirming the metal before arriving, which pushes the whole process back a day or two. If your schedule is tight, tell us your actual hard deadline (not just your flight date) in the first message, so we can build a production plan that is realistic. #### Frequent visitors and dental tourism More travellers are combining tourism, cosmetic procedures and a stop at the studio for grillz, because the per-tooth price in COP is usually much lower in dollars or euros than back home. If that's you, share your full itinerary so we can slot the mould appointment in around your other plans. Want exact pricing per metal before you reach out? Read how much do grillz cost in Medellín in 2026 (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/cuanto-cuestan-grillz-medellin-2026) first, so you arrive with a clear budget in mind. #### Sample itineraries by trip length Three-day trip: a small silver set — two fangs or a four-tooth front — booked the day you land or the day after, is the realistic choice. That window usually does not allow full gold or iced work, but you can pay the deposit and have the finished piece shipped home after you fly out. One-week trip: you have room for silver finished before your flight, and if you book the mould on day one or two, also for small 9K or 14K gold pieces. A full 18K set or large stones typically needs the full 10–15 days, so save those for a two-week trip or longer. Two weeks or more: this is the ideal scenario, since it comfortably covers any metal and stone combination, including full iced sets, with room for a mid-trip fit check if anything needs adjusting before final handover. #### Pairing your mould appointment with the rest of your trip Many visitors use the waiting period to explore different parts of Medellín: an afternoon walking around El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado) or Provenza (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/provenza), a night out dancing downtown, or a day trip to Rionegro and Llanogrande (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/rionegro-llanogrande). Since the mould only takes about 20 minutes, it is easy to fit in between those plans without losing a full day. If you are staying in a different area than where you plan to spend most of your trip, tell us both addresses — it often works best to take the mould near your first accommodation and arrange final handover closer to wherever you are staying in your last few days, so you are not travelling far right before your flight. #### Returning visitors: booking a second piece Several clients who visited Medellín before write to us on their next trip for a second piece or a style refresh — an extra fang, a metal change, or adding stones to a set they already own. If that's you, tell us which piece you have and when we made it, so the new design pairs well with the original. It's also common to take the mould on one trip and finalise the design later by email, once you're back home and have had time to think it over. Your mould doesn't expire — we keep it on file and use it whenever you confirm the order, with no need for a second trip to Medellín. #### What to have ready before your mould appointment To make the first appointment move fast, it helps to arrive with a clear idea of how many teeth you want covered, whether you prefer plain metal or stones, and a rough budget in mind, so the design proposal matches what you actually want from the first draft. Reference photos of styles you like also help, which you can compare against our styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos) page. You don't need to do anything special to your teeth beforehand — no special cleaning routine, no foods to avoid. The one thing that matters is arriving on time for the appointment, since the impression material only stays workable for a limited window once it's mixed. #### Sample itinerary: 7 days in Medellín Day 1: you arrive, settle in and message us to book the mould — getting it done that same day or the next is ideal. Day 2 or 3: we take the mould at your hotel or the studio, confirm the design, and you pay the deposit. While the piece is in production, you have the rest of the week to explore El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado), hike up to Parque Arví, or eat your way through Laureles without worrying about your grillz. Days 4–6: production continues; for silver or chrome this often lines up with the last part of your trip and can be ready before day 7. For gold or iced work on a tight one-week trip, the normal plan is to have the finished set shipped after you get home — don't worry if your flight leaves before it's done. Again: get fitted early in your trip to keep every option open. #### Sample itineraries: 10 and 14 days With 10 days you have comfortable room for any metal, as long as the mould is taken in the first two or three days: silver and chrome are usually ready by the midpoint of your trip, leaving several free days for sightseeing or a mid-trip fit check if a small adjustment is needed. Small 9K or 14K gold pieces fit comfortably in this window too. With 14 days the margin is even bigger: you can order 18K gold, full iced sets, or multiple stone-set teeth, and still have days to spare for a final fit review before handover. It's also the ideal window if you want to combine your piece with other appointments, like cosmetic or medical visits, without the grillz timeline being the limiting factor. #### Sample itinerary: 30 days or a longer stay A full month in Medellín removes almost all time pressure: you can take the mould calmly during your first week, let the design go through one or two rounds of email revisions, and still have plenty of time for the final fitting and any touch-ups before you fly out. That also opens the door to more elaborate pieces, like a full gold set with large stones, without the urgency of a short trip. If your stay is long because of work, study, or because you're exploring a move to the city, it's also a good time to get a second opinion on the design or compare several styles in person before deciding — something that's hard to fit into a trip of just a few days. #### What to pack and prepare before your trip You don't need anything special for the mould itself, but it helps to have your budget sorted out first: check prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios) before your flight so you know exactly what each metal costs per tooth and its rough USD equivalent. If you have photos of styles you like, save them on your phone to show at the first appointment — it speeds up the design proposal considerably. It also helps to keep your appointment confirmation (date, area and time) somewhere easy to check, along with our WhatsApp number, so you're not relying only on email if your plans shift at the last minute. If you're changing accommodation mid-trip, let us know ahead of time which address to use for the mould and which for final handover. #### Combine the mould with sightseeing in El Poblado, Laureles and Comuna 13 Since the mould only takes about 20 minutes, it's easy to fold it into a normal day of sightseeing. In El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado) you can take the mould in the morning and spend the afternoon between restaurants and parks; in Laureles (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/laureles) the vibe is calmer and more residential, great if you'd rather walk between cafés and your appointment. A walk through Comuna 13 (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/comuna-13), with its murals and outdoor escalators, can be scheduled on the same day as your fit check or final handover, since both appointments are quick and don't require blocking off half a day. That way your piece keeps moving behind the scenes while you see the city — which is exactly why it pays to get fitted early in your trip. ¿No tienes claro qué metal elegir? ### How much do grillz cost in Medellín in 2026? URL: https://grillzmedellin.com/en/blog/cuanto-cuestan-grillz-medellin-2026 · Published 2026-09-15 · Updated 2026-10-13 Grillz Medellín is a custom grillz studio in Medellín, Colombia, and in 2026 its pieces cost from COP 250,000 (≈US$65) per tooth in solid silver up to COP 1,500,000 (≈US$375) per tooth in 18K gold. A six-tooth silver top set is COP 1,500,000; in 14K gold, COP 7,500,000. #### How pricing works At Grillz Medellín we price per tooth, not by a fixed "set" or closed package, so you know exactly what you are paying from the very first message — no hidden fees, no surprises when you pick up the piece. The final price depends on two simple variables: the metal you choose and whether the piece carries stones. Impressions (or digital scan), design, casting and hand finishing are all included in the per-tooth price shown in the table. The only thing quoted separately is shipping, if you need your grillz delivered outside Medellín or abroad. You can see the full pricing logic on our prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios) page. #### Per-tooth price table (COP) Solid 925 silver: COP 250,000 (≈US$65) per tooth. Chrome / dental gold: COP 320,000 (≈US$80). 9K gold: COP 900,000 (≈US$225). 14K gold: COP 1,250,000 (≈US$315). 18K gold: COP 1,500,000 (≈US$375). These figures apply the same whether you order one front tooth or a full arch — the math is always per unit. Iced silver with moissanite: from COP 500,000 (≈US$125) per tooth. Iced gold with moissanite: from COP 1,250,000 (≈US$315) per tooth. Lab-grown and natural diamonds have no fixed table because they depend on stone size and count; in those cases we always send a personal quote before any deposit is taken. At the same karat, white, yellow and rose gold cost exactly the same — the difference is colour only, never price. Compare every metal and stone combination on prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios), or try options live in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza). USD figures are approximate at around 4,000 COP per dollar. #### Full set examples Two silver fangs: COP 500,000 (≈US$125). A six-tooth top silver set: COP 1,500,000 (≈US$375). The same six-tooth top set in 14K gold: COP 7,500,000 (≈US$1,875). In 18K gold the same set runs COP 9,000,000, since each tooth costs COP 1,500,000. An eight-tooth full top arch, iced in silver, starts from COP 4,000,000 (≈US$1,000) depending on the moissanite size you pick. For something more discreet, a single 18K cap adds a flash of shine without committing to a full set, for COP 1,500,000. Want to watch the total update tooth by tooth, metal and stone? Use the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza) to build your combination and see the exact price before booking your mould. #### Why does gold cost so much more than silver? Metal price drives everything else. A gold tooth carries several grams of high-purity alloy, and the international gold price has climbed sharply in recent years, which shows up directly in the cost of each piece. Silver, on the other hand, remains far more affordable and stable in price. That is exactly why Grillz Medellín takes a deposit before casting begins: it covers the metal bought specifically for your piece, at the day's price. The balance is paid on delivery, once your grillz is fitted and checked in your mouth. #### What moves the final price Tooth count is the most obvious factor — two fangs cost less than a full arch simply because there are fewer pieces. Metal is the second factor, and stones the third: an iced tooth with one small moissanite costs less than one with several large stones. Finish can also affect production time, though not always price: an open face (where the natural tooth shows through) versus separate individual pieces are style decisions you can explore in styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos) before you get a quote. #### What you should not be paying for Be wary of "gold" grillz sold at costume-jewellery prices — they are almost always plated brass or bronze that peels within weeks and can irritate your gums. Generic one-size grillz do not fit your mouth properly either, and poor fit is exactly what can damage teeth and gums over time. You also should not overpay for a bundled "package" when you can build exactly what you want tooth by tooth. Questions about metal, delivery times or the full process? Check the FAQ (https://grillzmedellin.com/preguntas-frecuentes) or message us directly on WhatsApp or email. #### Pricing wherever you are in Medellín Per-tooth pricing is the same across the city and the whole Valle de Aburrá: we take the mould at our studio or travel to your home, hotel or Airbnb in areas like El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado), Laureles (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/laureles), Envigado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/envigado) or Sabaneta (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/sabaneta), with no extra charge for the visit within the metro area. If you live outside Medellín or are visiting from abroad, the only added cost is insured, tracked shipping, quoted by destination. Curious how long the whole process takes? Read how long grillz take to make (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/cuanto-tardan-en-hacer-grillz). #### Silver or gold: which fits your budget If this is your first grillz and you are not sure how often you will actually wear it, solid 925 silver is the most sensible entry point: at COP 250,000 per tooth, a six-tooth set runs COP 1,500,000, letting you try the style without a large commitment. Silver can also be re-polished any time you want to refresh the shine. If you already know the grillz will be in regular rotation — nights out, content, events — 14K gold is usually the sweet spot: it looks more substantial than 9K, costs less than 18K, and holds its colour well under daily wear. 18K gold is for anyone chasing maximum shine who is fine paying the higher per-tooth price. You can also mix metals: many clients pick 18K fangs as the statement piece and fill the rest of the set in silver or 14K to stretch the budget without losing visual impact. That combination is easy to put together in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza). #### How the deposit and balance payment work Payment happens in two steps. First, a deposit is charged right after you approve the design: that money buys the exact metal your piece needs, at that day's price, so the cost does not change even if gold rises while we are casting. Second, the remaining balance is paid at handover, once you have tried the grillz in your mouth and confirmed the fit is right. We never hand over a piece before checking the fit, so you never pay the full amount for something that does not sit well. If shipping is involved, insured courier cost is quoted separately and confirmed before dispatch — never a surprise charge at the end. #### Grillz for a one-off event For a wedding, a music video or a single party, some people assume renting is an option — but Grillz Medellín does not offer rentals: every piece is custom-fitted to your own mould and built to be worn many times, not just once. Even so, for a single occasion a silver set with modest icing is usually the best value: it gives you the shine of a statement piece without the cost of a large gold set. If the event is only days away, check the production windows in our visitor timeline guide (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/grillz-medellin-visitantes-cronograma) before locking in a date, so you don't pay a deposit for something that can't realistically be ready in time. #### Booking your mould appointment Once you know roughly what you want, booking is simple: message us on WhatsApp or email with your preferred dates, and we confirm whether the studio or an in-home visit works better for you. Deposits are only requested after the design is approved, so there is no commitment just to get a quote. Areas like Robledo (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/robledo) and Bello (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/bello) are visited just as often as more central neighbourhoods — distance within the metro area never changes the per-tooth price shown in prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios). #### How long your grillz lasts and what upkeep it needs A well-cared-for grillz lasts years, whatever the metal. Silver can tarnish slightly over time from saliva and food contact, but it comes back to shine with a soft cloth or an occasional professional polish. Gold holds its colour more consistently and barely needs upkeep beyond regular cleaning. Iced pieces need a little more attention: avoid abrasive cleaners near the stones and store the piece in its case when not in use, so the setting does not take a knock. ### Do grillz damage your teeth? URL: https://grillzmedellin.com/en/blog/los-grillz-danan-los-dientes · Published 2026-08-30 · Updated 2026-10-13 Grillz Medellín makes removable, custom-fitted, no-filing grillz that do not damage teeth when worn and cleaned properly. Real problems come from ill-fitting generic pieces, low-quality metals and eating or sleeping with grillz in. #### The short answer No, if they are made properly. A removable grill is essentially a jewellery cover you put on and take off whenever you want. It does not alter the tooth at all: no enamel is filed, nothing is drilled, and nothing is glued on with permanent cement. What can cause real problems is the combination of poor fit, low-quality metal and poor daily hygiene. Those three factors together are what create the horror stories you sometimes see on social media. #### Why the mould changes everything A generic one-size grill, the kind sold online for a few dollars, leaves gaps between the metal and the tooth where food and bacteria build up, and presses in places it should not, leading to discomfort or even gum recession with prolonged use. A piece built on the exact mould of your teeth, on the other hand, sits evenly across the whole surface, leaves no hidden pockets for food, and is easy to clean because there are no hidden zones. That is why every piece we make at the studio starts with a mould or scan (https://grillzmedellin.com/como-funciona) of your mouth — never a standard size. #### Metal really matters We use solid 925 silver, chrome/dental gold and 9K, 14K and 18K gold — all materials stable in contact with saliva. We avoid thin electroplated layers and high-nickel alloys, the main culprits behind irritated gums and metal that peels within weeks. If you have sensitive gums or a past allergic reaction to jewellery metal, higher-karat gold is usually the gentlest choice for soft tissue. Compare every metal option in styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos) before deciding. #### Ground rules to avoid problems Take your grillz out to eat and to sleep, no exceptions. Chewing with them in wears the metal faster than normal and can loosen stones; sleeping with them in traps saliva against the tooth all night, which encourages bacterial plaque. Rinse your mouth and the grillz after sugary drinks or alcohol, since sugar and acid are the biggest enemies of enamel under any dental jewellery. Brush your teeth before putting them in so you do not seal food residue under the piece. #### When to check with your dentist first If you have untreated active cavities, very recent crowns or are in orthodontic treatment, check with your dentist before wearing any grillz, removable or not. A compromised tooth needs its underlying problem solved before it carries any metal piece, however well made. At the studio we never replace a dental check-up: if we notice something concerning while taking your mould, we tell you directly and, if needed, delay production until your dentist clears you. #### Daily care: the routine that makes the difference A two-minute daily routine is enough to keep both your grillz and your teeth in good shape: rinse, brush gently with mild soap and store dry in the case. We walk through it step by step, with weekly metal-specific cleaning, in how to clean and care for your grillz (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/como-limpiar-y-cuidar-tus-grillz). If the fit ever feels different, or you notice new discomfort, do not wait — reach us via contact (https://grillzmedellin.com/contacto) so we can check the piece before it turns into a bigger issue. #### Removable vs permanent: another safety factor A big part of why our pieces do not damage teeth is precisely that they are removable: nothing stays glued to your enamel 24 hours a day, so your teeth breathe and clean normally outside the time you wear the grill. We explain the full difference versus the permanent caps a dentist cements in place in removable vs permanent grillz (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/grillz-removibles-vs-permanentes). Live in areas like El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado) or Laureles (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/laureles) and want to ask questions in person before deciding? We can take the mould at your home or at the studio and answer any dental health question on the spot. #### Common myths worth dropping "All grillz eventually damage teeth": false. The damage does not come from grillz as a concept, but from ill-fitting generic pieces, nickel-heavy metals and poor wear habits. A custom-fitted, well-cared-for piece has no reason to cause problems over time. "Gold is always safer than silver": not that simple either. What determines whether a metal irritates gums is its purity and alloy quality, not the metal type itself. Both our 925 silver and our 9K-to-18K gold are nickel-free and stable in contact with saliva; see every option in styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos) and compare before assuming one is automatically better. #### Can I wear grillz with braces or orthodontic treatment? In general, combining grillz with traditional braces is not recommended: a custom fit gets complicated because your teeth keep shifting week to week, and a piece that fits perfectly today may be loose or tight within a month. If you are mid-treatment, it is smarter to wait until it finishes. If you use removable clear aligners, the situation is different since you can take them out for specific events and wear the grill during those hours. Even so, we recommend checking with your orthodontist and with us before taking a mould, to avoid fit surprises. #### How to tell if your grillz fit is correct A correct fit feels firm but not tight: the piece should not shift while talking normally, yet it should not leave painful marks or need force to put on or take off. Constant pressure on a single spot is a sign something was not calibrated right. If a grillz made elsewhere has never quite fit right, we can assess it and, in most cases, build you a new piece to your real measurements through the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza). Fixing a bad fit early is far better for your gums than getting used to the discomfort. #### Price and health do not have to compete A common mistake is thinking that protecting your dental health means spending more. It does not: even the most affordable option in our catalogue, solid 925 silver from COP 250,000 per tooth, is built on your exact mould with the same fit care as an 18K gold piece. See the full price table by material and karat in prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios). What we never recommend, whatever your budget, is choosing a generic one-size grill just to save a few dollars: that initial saving almost always costs more later in discomfort, extra cleaning, or, worst case, a dental visit that could have been avoided. #### Materials we avoid and why We do not work with cheap high-nickel alloys or thin few-micron electroplating, because those are the leading causes of contact allergies, greenish gum staining, and a finish that peels within weeks instead of lasting years. All our silver is solid 925, not plated, and all our gold starts from real 9K, not a simple gold wash over a base metal. That quality difference is what separates a safe grill from one that ends up in a drawer after a month of use. #### Summary: five points to remember First, a well-made removable grill does not damage your teeth. Second, a custom mould is what prevents gaps where bacteria build up. Third, the metal needs to be stable and nickel-free. Fourth, take it out to eat and sleep. Fifth, check with your dentist if you have active cavities or are mid-treatment. If you still have questions before booking your mould, check our FAQ (https://grillzmedellin.com/preguntas-frecuentes) or message us directly; we answer with the same honesty this article was written with. #### What dentists generally say about removable dental jewellery The general dental view on removable dental jewellery is clear: the risk is not in the object itself but in how it is made and worn. A piece that needs no filing, is not permanently cemented, and comes out for eating and sleeping minimises the factors that concern any professional. That is exactly what separates a custom-fitted removable grill from the permanent caps that require shaving down the tooth: since nothing touches the tooth structure, there is no irreversible step a dentist needs to pre-approve, though it is always good practice to mention it at your next routine check-up. #### Booking your mould with confidence If everything above has answered your main concerns, the next step is simple: book a mould appointment at the studio or at your home anywhere in Medellín and the Valle de Aburrá, pick your metal and style in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza), and check exact per-tooth pricing in prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios) before you commit to a deposit. We are happy to walk through fit, material and hygiene questions again at the appointment itself, in person, with your actual teeth in front of us rather than general advice online. ### Gold or silver: which grillz to choose URL: https://grillzmedellin.com/en/blog/oro-o-plata-que-grillz-elegir · Published 2026-08-12 · Updated 2026-10-13 At Grillz Medellín, solid 925 silver (from COP 250,000 ≈US$65 per tooth) is the most affordable way in; gold (9K COP 900,000, 14K COP 1,250,000, 18K COP 1,500,000) does not tarnish and is the better pick for frequent wear. #### Silver: the entry point Solid 925 silver gives a striking mirror finish, especially on bigger sets or combined with iced stones. It is many people's choice for a first set, a way to try the look without a big investment, or an occasional-wear set for parties and events. Its weak point is that it tarnishes with prolonged air and saliva contact, so it needs more frequent cleaning than gold to keep its shine. In exchange, at COP 250,000 per tooth, it is by far the most affordable option in the whole catalogue. #### Chrome / dental gold: an underrated middle ground A tough alloy with a golden tone very close to gold at a glance, priced near silver at COP 320,000 per tooth. It is a good option if you want the gold colour without committing yet to real karat gold jewellery pricing. It does not carry the intrinsic value of karat gold, but it also does not tarnish as fast as silver and holds up well to daily wear. Many people use it as a "middle step" before moving on to 14K or 18K gold. #### 9K, 14K and 18K gold: choosing a karat Higher karat means more pure gold in the alloy: richer colour and, naturally, higher price. 9K gold is harder and the cheapest of the three (COP 900,000 per tooth); 14K is most customers' favourite balance (COP 1,250,000); 18K has the deepest yellow and is usually gentlest on sensitive gums (COP 1,500,000). White, yellow and rose gold cost exactly the same at the same karat — colour choice is purely aesthetic. See every karat and colour combination in styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos) before deciding which looks best against your skin and your usual jewellery. #### What about iced pieces with stones? Both metals work well as a base for moissanite. On white silver, moissanite gives a very bright "all-ice" look from COP 500,000 per tooth, perfect for anyone who wants the diamond effect without a gold budget. On gold, iced pieces start from COP 1,250,000 per tooth and give a warm contrast between yellow metal and white stones. We do not run a fixed table for lab-grown or natural diamonds: those are quoted individually by stone size, clarity and count, always before any deposit is taken. #### Durability and day-to-day maintenance Gold does not tarnish or dull over time, so if you plan to wear your grillz several times a week for years, 14K or 18K gold pays off that investment better: less intensive cleaning, less maintenance, and shine that stays consistent. Silver needs a slightly more disciplined cleaning routine, but it is not complicated: a silver cloth or cleaner once a week keeps it spotless. See the full routine in how to clean and care for your grillz (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/como-limpiar-y-cuidar-tus-grillz). #### Does metal affect dental health? No, as long as the metal is quality and the fit is custom: both 925 silver and our 9K-to-18K golds are stable in contact with saliva and contain no nickel. If you have especially sensitive gums, higher-karat gold is usually the gentlest option against soft tissue. You can read more on this, including warning signs and basic care, in do grillz damage your teeth? (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/los-grillz-danan-los-dientes). #### How to decide for your case If it is your first set, you will wear it for special occasions, or you want to try the look before committing, start with silver: the financial risk is low and the visual impact is just as strong. If you will wear it daily for years and want something that never dulls, go straight for 14K or 18K gold. Staying in areas like Provenza (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/provenza) or Envigado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/envigado)? We can bring samples of both metals to you so you can decide seeing the colour against your skin in natural light. Price both options side by side in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza) and compare full pricing on prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios). #### Weight in your mouth and speaking comfort Silver and gold of similar karat weigh about the same tooth for tooth, so the comfort difference between the two metals is minimal. What really changes the feel in your mouth is set size: a single loose tooth feels very different from a full arch, regardless of metal. If this is your first time wearing grillz, we recommend starting with a small set, two to four front teeth, in whichever metal you prefer, and scaling up to a full arch once you are used to talking and smiling with the piece in. #### Resale and long-term value Karat gold retains real material value because it contains measurable pure gold, which silver and chrome/dental gold do not offer in the same way. We do not sell it as a financial investment, but it is a real factor if you care about the piece holding value over the years as well as looking good. That said, the main reason to choose a metal should still be your budget and how you plan to use it, not a resale expectation. Most of our customers buy to wear, not to store. #### Mixing metals within one set The whole set does not have to be the same metal: some customers combine gold on the front teeth, the most visible ones when smiling, with silver on the sides, to stretch their budget without sacrificing visual impact where it matters most. You can also mix karats, for example 18K on the central incisors and 14K on the rest, or combine yellow and white gold in the same set for a two-tone effect. All of these combinations are built in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza) and priced automatically tooth by tooth. #### Our quick recommendation No big budget or first time: 925 silver from COP 250,000 per tooth. Want the gold tone for a little more: chrome/dental gold at COP 320,000 per tooth. Frequent wear and long-term durability: 14K gold at COP 1,250,000 per tooth, the balance point most customers choose. Looking for the most premium finish and gentlest option for sensitive gums: 18K gold at COP 1,500,000 per tooth. If you are still torn between two options after reading this, message us on WhatsApp or through contact (https://grillzmedellin.com/contacto) and we will help you decide based on your budget, how often you plan to wear it, and the rest of the jewellery you already wear daily. #### Common mistakes when choosing metal A frequent mistake is buying silver thinking "I'll switch to gold later" without considering that every piece is built around that specific mould: if you later want gold, you will need a new piece, not a conversion of the same grill. Think of silver and gold as separate products, not steps of the same piece. Another mistake is choosing a gold colour from a single phone photo: yellow, white and rose gold look different depending on lighting and skin tone. That is why we always recommend seeing physical samples, at the studio or at your home, before confirming the final order. #### In summary There is no single "better" metal: there is a more suitable metal depending on your budget, how often you will wear it, and the finish you want. Silver wins on affordability, chrome/dental gold on price-to-colour ratio, and karat gold on durability and consistent long-term shine. If you want to see the full catalogue and decide once prices and colours are in front of you, visit styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos), build your favourite combination in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza) and book your mould when you are ready. #### Production time by metal Turnaround barely differs between silver and plain gold: plain pieces in either metal are usually ready in 5 to 10 days. The real difference shows up once you add stones: an iced set, silver or gold, takes 10 to 15 days because setting stones one by one needs more workshop time. If you are working against a deadline, such as a trip, a concert or a specific event, tell us from the first message: that way we prioritise your production slot and confirm whether your preferred metal can still be ready on time. #### Ready to decide? Here is your next step Whichever metal you lean towards, the process is the same: pick your style and karat in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza), check full per-tooth pricing in prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios), and book a mould appointment at the studio or at your home anywhere in Medellín and the Valle de Aburrá. If you still want to see and feel both metals before committing, mention it when you book; we can bring small samples to the appointment so the final choice is based on how gold and silver actually look against your own smile, not just on a screen. ### Grillz and paisa reggaeton URL: https://grillzmedellin.com/en/blog/grillz-y-el-regueton-paisa · Published 2026-07-28 · Updated 2026-10-13 Grillz Medellín designs custom pieces for the city's urban music scene. Medellín became one of the world capitals of reggaeton, and with the music came its aesthetic: chains, streetwear and grillz, today both jewellery and a sign of belonging. #### From Houston and Atlanta to Medellín Grillz took off in US hip hop, especially in the South, in the late 1990s and throughout the 2000s, with artists turning the mouth into another piece of jewellery. That culture travelled through music videos and social media and landed in a city that already had a strong rap and breaking scene in neighbourhoods like Comuna 13 (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/comuna-13). What's interesting is that the removable format — the one we make at the studio — was always closest to the original spirit of that aesthetic: jewellery you put on for the occasion, not a permanent change to the tooth. #### Reggaeton city Over the last decade Medellín became a global reference point for reggaeton and Spanish-language urban music. Recording studios, producers and videos shot on its streets put paisa urban style in front of millions on YouTube and social media. Those videos feature big jewellery, thick chains, branded clothing and, increasingly, a flash of metal in the smile that became part of the genre's visual language. #### Jewellery, not costume What we see every day at the studio is that people are not copying one particular artist — they are after their own version of that aesthetic. Subtle fangs for the office that do not draw too much attention, an open face for the weekend, or a full iced set for the stage or video. That flexibility is exactly the advantage of custom pieces: you can have a sober set for the day and a bolder one for the night, without either compromising your teeth. See every combination in styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos). #### From the party to every day La 70 in Estadio (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/estadio), Provenza in El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado), the fondas and clubs of Sabaneta (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/sabaneta): grillz are now a regular part of the city's nightlife, both at private parties and in everyday neighbourhood life. More people wear them by day too, at work or casual meetups, because custom removables are comfortable and can be taken out in seconds if the occasion calls for it. That normalisation is fairly recent and tracks the growth of the genre that popularised it. #### Why paisa reggaeton adopted this exact accessory Reggaeton, as a genre, has always built its visual identity around visible luxury: chains, watches, clothes and now grillz all serve the same purpose of signalling status and belonging to a scene. Unlike a watch or a chain, a grill only appears when you smile or sing, which makes it an almost theatrical detail in a video or live set. That "appear and disappear" quality is part of why the removable format fits the music so well: you can save it for the exact moment you want it noticed, instead of wearing it fixed 24 hours a day. #### A little general history of dental adornment Decorating or modifying teeth for aesthetic reasons did not start with hip hop: ancient Mesoamerican cultures already inlaid stones like jade into teeth as a mark of status, and different regions and eras around the world have had similar dental ornamentation practices, with meanings ranging from religious to purely decorative. What US hip hop added to that long history was the removable format and the idea of the grill as interchangeable jewellery rather than a fixed change to the tooth. That distinction matters: today's urban aesthetic, including the paisa scene, inherits more of that logic of temporary jewellery than of a permanent transformation. Understanding that background helps explain why removable grillz, custom-made on a mould or digital scan without filing the tooth, connect both with the original tradition and with what people actually want today: something eye-catching you can put on and take off as the moment calls for it. #### Medellín's urban scene, beyond the music Reggaeton did not grow in isolation: it developed alongside breaking, graffiti, streetwear and an urban fashion culture that already had strong roots in the city from earlier decades of local rap and hip hop scenes. Neighbourhoods with a strong artistic and nightlife tradition, from the city centre to areas like Laureles (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/laureles), became fertile ground for that mix of music, fashion and personal style. In that context, grillz did not arrive as an isolated fad; they became one more piece in an urban wardrobe that includes sneakers, chains, caps and distinctive haircuts. It is an accessory best understood as part of a look, not a standalone object. #### Grillz on camera, on stage and on social media Modern music video aesthetics reward details that read well in a close-up shot, which is why thick chains, big stones and, increasingly, iced grillz work so well on camera. A close-up of a smile with some shine communicates in a split second what used to take an explanation. The same logic applies to social media, where a short video or a party photo is built around one strong visual detail. You don't need to be on stage to feel that effect: anyone with custom grillz can use that same idea of instant visibility in their own photos and videos. #### Common myths about grillz and urban music A frequent myth is that grillz are exclusive to artists or people in the music industry; in practice, most people who order them at the studio are not professional musicians. Another myth is that all grillz are the same; in reality there's a wide range, from a simple silver piece to a full gold set with stones. It's also common to think wearing them daily damages your teeth; a well-made custom removable grill, without filing the tooth, combined with the right care routine, does not have to compromise your dental health. You can read more on the topic in do grillz damage your teeth? (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/los-grillz-danan-los-dientes). #### Who orders them at the studio Not just artists and producers — also dancers, content creators, students and professionals who simply want a different accessory for events and nights out. The mix of clients reflects just how embedded reggaeton culture is in everyday Medellín, well beyond the stage. Curious about pricing before you decide? Check how much do grillz cost in Medellín in 2026 (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/cuanto-cuestan-grillz-medellin-2026) to get a clear budget by metal, or see the full list on prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios). #### Choosing a design that fits your style If your day to day is more formal, subtle silver fangs or a small gold detail can give you that urban touch without changing your everyday look too much. If you want a strong presence for parties, shoots or performances, a full iced set or a gold arch with stones has far more visual impact. Understanding the full process, from mould to delivery, also helps you decide calmly: check the step by step on how it works (https://grillzmedellin.com/como-funciona) before booking, especially if it's your first time ordering a custom piece. #### Grillz for people who aren't musicians but love the culture You don't need to be on a stage or shooting a video to enjoy this aesthetic: design students in Manila (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/manila), young entrepreneurs in Belén (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/belen), or just friends heading out for a weekend night order grillz for the same reason someone buys a chain or a striking pair of sneakers: they like how it looks and how it feels to wear. That democratisation of the accessory is, at its core, how urban fashion naturally moves: what starts tied to one music genre ends up part of a much wider everyday wardrobe, without taking anything away from people who wear it out of genuine love for the music. #### A note on respecting the culture Grillz carry real cultural weight, so it's worth wearing them with some awareness of where the style comes from: a craft rooted in hip hop and later embraced by reggaeton and Medellín's broader urban scene. Appreciating that history is part of enjoying the accessory, not just the finished look. That's also why we focus on craftsmanship over hype: a well-made custom piece, fitted to your own teeth, holds up far better over years of wear than a generic one-size design, no matter which aesthetic inspired it. #### How to start yours Want yours? The first step is picking the style: fangs, a top set, open face or a full arch, in silver, gold or iced. Start playing with combinations in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza) and book your mould once you know what you want. Wondering how long production takes by metal? ### How to clean and care for your grillz URL: https://grillzmedellin.com/en/blog/como-limpiar-y-cuidar-tus-grillz · Published 2026-07-10 · Updated 2026-10-13 Grillz Medellín recommends rinsing your grillz in warm water after each wear, brushing with a soft brush and mild soap, drying them and storing them in the case. Once a week, a deeper clean suited to the metal keeps a piece looking new. #### Daily routine (2 minutes) When you take them out, rinse in warm water right away to remove saliva and food residue before it dries onto the metal. Gently brush inside and out with a soft toothbrush kept just for this, with a drop of mild soap — never toothpaste. Rinse again and dry with a lint-free cloth before storing. This two-minute step, done every single day, is what extends the life of any piece the most, whether silver, gold or iced. #### Weekly clean by metal Silver: use a silver cloth or a dedicated silver cleaning solution to remove the natural tarnish that air exposure leaves behind. Gold: warm soapy water and a short soak of a couple of minutes is usually enough, since gold does not oxidise the way silver does. Iced: run a very soft brush around the stones to clear debris without stressing the setting. Never use toothpicks, needles or sharp metal tools near the stones — they can lift or scratch them. #### What to always avoid Very hot water, chlorine, bleach and abrasive toothpaste all scratch the metal surface and, on iced pieces, can loosen the stone setting over time. Do not leave your grillz in direct sun or inside a hot car, since heat can slightly warp some fitting resins. And never wrap them in a paper napkin at a restaurant to "set them aside for a moment" — that is exactly how most grillz get lost, thrown out with the napkin before anyone notices. #### How to store them between wears Always in the case, and always dry before closing it: storing a damp piece speeds up silver tarnish and can leave water marks on mirror-polished gold. If you have more than one piece — say, a plain set and an iced one — store them in separate compartments so they do not scratch each other. Travelling? Keep the case in your carry-on, not checked luggage, to avoid knocks and to have it on hand as soon as you land. #### FAQs about daily cleaning Can I use mouthwash on the piece? Better not to: many mouthwashes contain alcohol or dyes that can dull the metal or stain stones over time. Warm water and mild soap is enough for an effective, safe daily clean. Do I need to disinfect the piece on top of cleaning it? For personal daily use, a full clean with mild soap already removes bacteria and residue; you don't need extra disinfecting products unless you share the piece with someone else, which we don't recommend for hygiene reasons anyway. #### Signs you need professional maintenance If the fit feels different, the piece feels loose, or a stone moves when you touch it, stop wearing it like that — reach us via contact (https://grillzmedellin.com/contacto) so we can check it before a stone is lost or the piece warps. A change in fit can also signal a normal dental change (for example, after orthodontic treatment), so mention it when you write to us so we know whether a new mould is needed. #### Care differences between silver, gold and iced Silver needs the most frequent routine because it tarnishes the most; if you wear your grillz almost daily, consider a deep clean every five to seven days instead of waiting a full week. Gold, especially 14K and 18K, holds up much better between deep cleans. Iced pieces, whatever the base metal, need extra attention around the setting: visually check the stones every time you clean to catch any looseness early. For a deeper look at why a custom fit reduces these risks from the start, read do grillz damage your teeth? (https://grillzmedellin.com/blog/los-grillz-danan-los-dientes). #### Caring for pieces with mixed metals If your design combines, say, yellow and white gold, or silver with gold accents, clean each area with the most delicate metal in the piece in mind: when in doubt, follow the silver protocol, which is the strictest, rather than risk a product meant only for gold. Mixed-metal pieces also tend to need more frequent visual checks where the metals meet, since that's usually where early signs of wear or slight separation show up first. #### Professional maintenance and adjustments Over time it is normal for a piece to need a small readjustment, especially if your teeth shift slightly or you wear it very often. At the studio we handle check-ups and minor adjustments; if you are in the Valle de Aburrá, we can coordinate a visit in areas like Itagüí (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/itagui) or Bello (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/bello) without you needing to travel to the studio. If your grillz is several years old and wear is obvious, sometimes it makes more sense to price a new piece instead of continuing to repair the old one; compare the cost of starting fresh on prices (https://grillzmedellin.com/precios). #### Useful tools to keep at home A soft-bristle toothbrush reserved only for your grillz, mild unscented soap, a lint-free microfibre cloth and, if you own silver pieces, a dedicated silver-polishing cloth are enough to keep any piece in good shape without spending on expensive specialist products. Avoid any product containing ammonia or strong solvents, even if it is marketed for jewellery in general: many of those products are too harsh for fitting resins or set stones and can damage the piece instead of protecting it. #### Common cleaning mistakes One of the most frequent mistakes is using toothpaste to clean grillz, thinking it must be the most natural choice since it's used on teeth: most toothpastes contain abrasive particles designed for tooth enamel, not polished metal, and they dull the surface over time. Another common mistake is storing a piece while it's still wet, assuming it will "dry on its own in the case": trapped moisture in a closed space speeds up silver tarnish and can encourage bad odours. Always dry it completely before storing it, no exceptions. #### Special care before big events If you have a party, a shoot or a special event coming up, do the deep clean a day or two beforehand, not on the same day — that gives the metal time to settle after the process and avoids any cleaning-product residue right before you wear it. Use the moment to check the fit and the stones calmly too. If you're about to wear a piece that's been stored for a while, always give it a full clean before putting it in, even if it looks fine at a glance, since dust and ambient moisture build up even inside a closed case. #### A care routine for everyday wearers If you wear a piece almost daily, it's worth rotating between two sets — say, a plain one and an iced one — so each gets to fully rest and dry between wears, which reduces overall wear and makes it easier to keep up the cleaning routine without rushing. It also helps to pick a fixed day each week for the deep clean, rather than doing it only when you remember: that consistency is what really makes the difference in how a piece looks after several months of regular use. #### When to consider a new piece instead of repairing If your grillz has already been adjusted several times, if the metal shows visible wear that no cleaning fixes, or if your style has simply changed, it can be more practical to design a new piece than to keep maintaining the old one. Browse current options in styles (https://grillzmedellin.com/estilos) or build your own combination in the configurator (https://grillzmedellin.com/personaliza). If you live in or are visiting areas like El Poblado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/el-poblado) or Envigado (https://grillzmedellin.com/zonas/envigado), booking a check-up or a new mould is simple: just message us with the area you're in and we'll find a time that works for you. #### Caring for grillz in Medellín's climate Medellín's weather plays a bigger role in grillz upkeep than most people expect. The city sits at a mild, fairly stable temperature most of the year, but humidity swings with the rainy seasons around April–May and October–November, and higher moisture in the air means tarnish builds up faster on silver pieces during those months. If you travel often between Medellín and a hotter, more humid coastal city, pack your case with a small silica gel packet to cut down on trapped moisture during transit. Dust from motorcycle traffic and city streets is another factor locals deal with daily: if you commute by bike, Metro, or motorcycle, give your piece a quick rinse as soon as you get home rather than waiting for your usual routine, since fine dust settles into the grooves of iced pieces more than people realise. None of this changes the core routine above, but adjusting its timing to the season keeps your grillz looking sharp year-round.
